Whyle and Kirby-Moore both fouled in quick succession . It’s tough for the referee who in my opinion is doing well but getting loads of stick from the Guiseley fans.  Ilkeston so close to a 3rd goal but it’s only a corner.
0-2      60 mins

Good effort by Thewlis bus it flashed by the post. Free Kick Guiseley on edge of area . Big free kick chance. It’s over the bar. Ilkeston shot hits the post (Youmbi) 0-2. 68 mins

Keeper Cracknell parried his first effort but when the ball came back to him Thoornhill made sure with his second attempt.

Unfortunately the league tables on Footballwebpages and the Northern Prem website are both incorrect tonight. There is a more accurate one on Sky of all places! We are 7th instead of 6th!

Sat 11th October 2025
Northern Premier League
Guiseley 1  Ilkeston Town 4
Probably a best performance so far gave Ilkeston an emphatic victory against last season’s playoff finalists. It may have been so different had Guiseley taken a chance in the opening two minutes. But desperate defending on the goal line and Alfie Roberts’s save saw Ilkeston survive and prosper. Harvey Kirby-Moore gave Ilkeston a half time lead and three outstanding goals after the break gave the Robins an impressive victory.
Guiseley’s early chance fell to Jordan Thewlis but somehow Roberts and ilkeston’s defenders managed to scramble the ball off the line. Guiseley’s strong start had Ilkeston pegged back but gradually Ilkeston fought their way into the ascendency mainly through the endeavours of captain Matt Thornhill. Jordan Stevens was having some success down the left and he tested keeper Joe Cracknell after cutting inside. It had been fast and furious but without real chances until 27 minutes in. Then a header from Sam Parker came back off the crossbar and Kirby-Moore was there to prod the ball in and give Ilkeston the lead. Guiseley mounted a fightback and Roberts had to race out to clear a through ball before Lebrun Mbeka headed wide from a corner and Callam Minkley blocked Will Longbottom’s effort. A competitive first half ended with Ilkeston having a slender lead.
A second Ilkeston goal steadied the ship and it was a superb effort by Dylan Youmbi who carried the ball a good distance before slotting home on 52 minutes. Guiseley were stunned and Ilkeston threatened to score more with Cracknell finger tipping Youmbi’s shot round the post.Thewlis had a chance for Guiseley before another Youmbi effort came back off the post. Guiseley were coming back into the game when Ilkeston struck again on 71 minutes  with an outstanding goal from Sam Essien. He showed brilliant footwork to breeze past his marker before racing goalwards and firing a shot just inside the post. When Amir Berchil missed a sitter for Guiseley, they knew it wasn’t their day. On 78 minutes Matt Thornhill crowned a man of the match performance with a cracker. His first effort was parried by Cracknell but when the ball came back to him he made sure with his second attempt. Leo Farrell scored a consolation goal for Guiseley in added time.

After that horrific losing streak when many, including me (I'm ashamed to say) doubted Deaks... Surely at this rate he's a manager of the season candidate. Just imagine what he could do with a healthy budget behind him!

Yesterday’s team
1 Alfie Roberts What a fantastic keeper he is proving to be. He came into the side unheralded and has surely won over everyone at the club with his bravery and shot stopping.
2 Seth Okyere It’s a pity he's only on loan from Sheffield United. He settled in no time and showed his quality.
3 Sam Parker Definitely one of our best players now. Always gives 100%
4 Matt Thornhill Now that he’s fit he's showing what an influential and outstanding player he is.
5 Tom Marshall  Fearless leader who shirks nothing. Our defensive rock.
6 Callum Minkley  Often the unsung hero. He never lets us down.
7 Jordan Stevens Simply oozes class in abundance.
8 Sam Essien What can I say.  Brilliant ball winner and understandably a fans favourite. Why did Matlock let him go?
9 Harvey Kirby-Moore Only 18 and with massive potential. Scoring goals and getting better all the time.
10 Colin Daniel Quality player. Can play anywhere and never has a bad game.
11 Dylan Youmbi  Outstanding attacking player who takes on defenders with his quick feet and dribbling skills.
12 Fedel Ross-Lang  Recovering from a long term injury but starting to look useful.
13 Mitchell Leivers  not used yesterday but reliable standby keeper
14 Jackson Blaize  Another Sheffield United loanee. Not seen the best of him yet.
15 Tyler Whyle Always a composed central defender
16 Robbie Fox Can’t fault Robbie for lack of effort. A real trier but has found goals hard to come by.
Manager Ian Deakin. Proved the doubters wrong again. We're lucky to have him.

As a supporter of a non league football team there are always going to be ups and downs (good days and bad days).  There are sometimes days of despair but yesterday was one of those good days filled with elation and camaraderie that makes supporting your team worth while.

Most teams are now a quarter way through the season but the league table is uneven with Ilkeston, Prescot and Guiseley having played 4 games more than Warrington Town.
Wasn’t expecting to see Lancaster at the top. They lost their first two league matches but are now ten games unbeaten.
Surprising to see Rushall, Ashton and Guiseley in the bottom half.
Rylands, Stockton, promoted Hednesford and Gainsborough are in the top six as expected with FC United joining them.
Of the other promoted teams, Cleethorpes have made the best start and following a winless nine game start Stocksbridge have won their last two.
Stockton are currently unbeaten in their last seven
Prescot Cables are the draw specialists with 8 draws in 13 matches. Ilkeston by contrast have drawn none of their 13 games.
Hednesford are currently the best supported team averaging 300 per game more than FC United. Over 3000 saw Hednesford play Rushall on August Bank Holiday Monday.

NPL ROUND UP :   Sat 11th October 2025
Twenty-eight goals were scored across the eight NPL Premier Division games on Saturday, in what was a truly entertaining round of action.
The game of the weekend came at the Quickline Logistics Arena, where Warrington Rylands won a seven-goal thriller in front of their home fans against basement side Morpeth Town. The pace was set immediately by Neil Reynolds’ side, who scored inside the opening minute through Alex Kiwomya.  The wide man book-ended the first-half scoring, which saw Rylands go into the break 4-0 ahead. Morpeth rallied in the second half through goals from Cyril Guraud, Will Dowling and Luke James.  But in the end, they left themselves too much to do and fell to their seventh loss of the campaign.
The Blues could have gone top with a win on Saturday, but a slim 1-0 win for Lancaster City at Leek Town ensured that they remained top of the table.  The two sides battled hard throughout the game, and it looked to be ending in a stalemate, but Joe Aimson’s 91st minute strike ensured Lancaster extended their unbeaten run into double digits.
Elsewhere, FC United of Manchester took advantage of sides above them not playing by defeating Hebburn Town 1-0 to climb into the top five. Adam Le Fondre’s goal eight minutes from time dealt Hebburn their first league defeat since mid-August. Mark Beesley’s FC United side have now kept seven clean sheets in their 10 league games so far this season.
Ilkeston Town’s winning run continued away at Guisley as they won 4-1 in the first Northern Premier League game of the season to be streamed on ClubberTV. Harvey Kirby-Moore’s third of the season put the visitors one up at half-time. Ian Deakin’s side turned the screw in the second, scoring three more unanswered goals to all-but-secure the win with 10 minutes to go. Leo Farrell scored a consolation for Guiseley in second-half stoppage time, but that wasn’t enough to prevent a third straight win for the visiting Robins, who are up to seventh.
Towards the foot of the table, Stocksbridge Park Steels opened up a four-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone after an important 2-1 win against Warrington Town.  Stocksbridge led at Bracken Moor at half-time, thanks to goals from Oliver Grzelak and Alexander O’Connor. Troy Bourne pulled one back for the Yellows in the final 10 minutes, but there would be no equaliser as Steels held on for back-to-back home wins.
Whitby Town got back to winning ways in emphatic fashion, beating Ashton United 4-1 at Hurst Cross. The hosts were quick out of the blocks, scoring inside a minute through Mikey O’Neill. But two goals in the space of three minutes had the Seasiders ahead at half-time, and another two in the second half made things convincing. It was a much-needed win for Whitby, who ended a five-game winless run in league action. Ashton dropped to 15th, having now lost their last two games.
The final unbeaten away run was obliterated at the SFC Stadium as Rushall Olympic lost for the first time on their travels against Bamber Bridge. A Billy Bould brace and goals from Kofi Moore and Ewan Bange led the Brig to a 4-0 win over the Pics, who ended the game with 10 men after Dan Jezeph was given his marching orders on the hour mark.
And Prescot Cables drew their eighth game already this season, with their match at Cleethorpes Town ending 1-1. Ben Elliott’s eighth of the season put Cables 1-0 up after 25 minutes, but Cleethorpes answered back four minutes later through Jack Vann.  Both sides sit inside the top 10 after the draw. Prescot are eighth, whilst Cleethorpes are two points and two places behind.
Results - Saturday 11 October
