Included in next months Ilkeston Life (March '24) :

Ilkeston football followers praised
Ilkeston Town supporters saw their team defeated at Macclesfield - but won the admiration of the home fans for their friendliness.
Fans of the Cheshire team heaped praise on social media after the game on Saturday 17th February which the Silkmen won 5-3 with two late goals.
Ilkeston fans who made the journey to the Leasing.com Staduim (locally know as ‘the Moss’) got drenched in the rain but cheered their team to the end.

JC Matthew posted online: “Super fans you lot, really friendly.  Best of luck for the reast of the season.”
Lee Holmes wrote: “Ilkeston fans did their team so proud today.  Never stopped singing.  Draw would have been a fair result but the red card made the difference.  Fans are an absolute credit to their club.  Hopefully welcomed back to the Moss soon.”
Pete Forse posted: “Great singing lads, thanks for coming over here in numbers.”
Andy Worth said: “Some of the best away fans to visit the Moss this season.”
John Slater noted: “The Ilkeston fans showed their support as soon as they got into the ground, it’s a pity their number 11 was a bit too enthusiastic but it’s happened to us too.  Good luck Ilkeston for the rest of the season.”
Tom Read wrote: “Excellent game.  Excellent entertainment. Excellent home singing.  Excellent away singing.”
Victoria Moss typed: “Credit to the Ilkeston fans.  Brilliant today, great game!”

After the game Ian Deakin, manager of Ilkeston Town FC commented: “I just want to say a massive thank you to our fans today. The lads gave their all with ten men ... your support was greatly appreciated.”

Football pundit Robbie Savage is Director of Football at Macclesfield FC.
John Rooney, brother of Wayne Rooney, plays for them and scored a hat-trick on the day.  The club has gates of over 3,000 each game.

Re: Sat 17th Feb 24 : Macclesfield v Ilkeston : ko 3pm

overall i was very proud of the players , they fave their all but the game changer was of course the sending off . Should Deaks have took Jamie off at half time because you could they were hell bent in trying to get that . Talking off sendings off , how did their player stay on the filed with that footed challenge with suds showing or am i wrong ?
The free kick from Tom was absolutely stunning and in front of the fans who went mental celebrating omg it was a world class goal. Like i say all the fans were very proud of the players and couldnt wait to applaud the players after the game even tho the fans were drenched tot the skin.
Talking of getting drenched i am soooo frustrated with their club because if you cant get into the seated area there is NO !!!!!!!! place to go to get cover which i find disgusting in this day and age  in a quite modern ground . Sorry there was a place ......the F_cking toilets . £17 and you get no cover what so ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuming.
On the plus side , yes it was great to hear many compliments about our fans from the Macc fans its really appreciated ....

It sounded like everyone who travelled with us to Macclesfield enjoyed their day despite the rain and the result. Let's hope a few of them come with us more often. The best is yet to come Next season is going to be brilliant
These are good times for the club. We are privileged to have a good owner, good management team, good bunch of players and great fans.
And don't forget the people behind the scenes like Mark Frost, Mike Pike, Kelly Pike, Patrick Nally, Zane Henson, Brian Gee, Chris Charlton, Danny Draper, James Bolton, Tony King,  Alex Middleton, Kev Cross, Liam Attwood, Tim Broadbent and Annette Broadbent; all pulling together to make things better.

great celebrations

Funny how they cut out our celebrations when Tom scored that screamer of a free kick, they panned round to the half way line.

Alex Bruce: Macclesfield boss leaves for coaching position at League Two club Salford City

Alex Bruce had previously coached at West Brom when they were under the management of his father SteveMacclesfield boss Alex Bruce has left the non-league club to take up a coaching role with Salford City. The 39-year-old former Hull City defender took over at the Northern Premier League side last October for his first role in management. He had previously been on the coaching staff at West Bromwich Albion during his father Steve's spell in charge at The Hawthorns.Bruce leaves with the Silkmen in fifth place in the seventh tier.In his role, Bruce will form part of Karl Robinson's coaching staff at the Peninsula Stadium.

Bad decision in my opinion. He was lucky to get the job at Macclesfield then he shows a complete lack of loyalty by moving on at the first opportunity.  Macclesfield are on the up. Salford are going nowhere.
