Matlock Town

What a disappointing season Matlock have had. After finishing in the playoffs last season they were expected to be challenging again this season. This hope was reinforced when they signed prolific goalscorer Jonathan Margetts. But they’ve never been above 9th and they’re currently 16th just three places above the relegation places. Their away form has been particularly poor having lost 12 times on the road. Only Stafford Rangers have lost more away games. A 4-0 home win against leaders Radcliffe showed what they’re capable of but it’s been a season of inconsistency not helped by several home matches being postponed. Seven of their remaining nine matches are at home so they have a chance to improve their position. Ilkeston go there on Bank Holiday Monday 1st April hoping to avenge a 1-0 defeat at the NMG.
