    Top half finish should be the target

    .
    According to the Football Web Pages Predicted final table; 68 points is needed to get into the playoffs. Ilkeston currently have 36 points from 26 matches. So to make the playoffs we need another 32 points from 14 remaining matches. That means winning at least 10 of the outstanding 14 fixtures Realistically that isn’t likely to happen  

    These are our remaining fixtures:

    Lancaster (H)
    Macclesfield (A)
    Radcliffe. (H)
    Bamber Bridge (A)
    Hyde  (H)
    Guiseley (A)
    Bradford (H)
    Matlock (A)

    Warrington (A) 


    Points needed to get into the playoffs cannot be calculated exactly of course and depends on the result of the other clubs. So it could be that less than 68 points are needed.

    It looks like Radcliffe will be champions and Warrington are best placed to finish second. So that leaves three playoff places and Marine, Hyde, Worksop, Guiseley, Macclesfield and Whitby are currently the main contenders.

    All of the above teams are going to drop points between now and the end of the season due to it being such a wide open league.
    Ilkeston are currently 10th and 8 points off a playoff place 
    Last season Ian Deakin took Long Eaton from the bottom of the league to the playoffs
    We can't expect another miracle but if we could match last season's 7th position finish, that would be a massive achievement in this much tougher Northern Premier League.

    I say take every game as it comes.

    1st test marine at home. Let's see what happens

    Sorry Alex, I just like projecting forward with possible scenarios.

     Looking at the remaining fixtures for each team I calculate that this could be how the playoff positions finish

          1  Radcliffe              Champions

          3  Macclesfield.             69
          4  Hyde                         68 
          5  Whitby                       67
          ................................................... 
          6  Worksop.                   65
          7  Marine.                      65
          8  Guiseley.                   64
          9  Ilkeston                    60


    For Ilkeston to finsh with 60 poimts would be an remarkable achievement . That's 24 points from our remaining 14 matches (7 wins and 3 draws)
