Rylands have always lived in the shadow of the other Warrington team ie Warrington Town.
But last season Warrington Town were relegated and now both teams are in the Northern Premier. 
Warrington Town have a nice ground. The same can't be said for Rylands.


But this match is at the NMG and Rylands away record so far this season is:

They don’t score many and don’t concede many.

NPL PREVIEW OF MATCHES TO BE PLAYED SATURDAY 18 OCT 2025.
 
Lancaster take on Hednesford and Gainsborough host FC United in intriguing weekend.

Weather depending, there will be a full 10-game Saturday agenda for the first time since September 6 in the NPL Premier Division. And with four sides in the top six set to face off, plus a battle between the bottom two in the league, there’s plenty of anticipation.

League leaders Lancaster City will be looking to extend their unbeaten league run to 11 games, but they’ll have to take down fifth-placed Hednesford Town to do so. The Pitmen come into the weekend wounded from a somewhat surprising midweek defeat against Whitby Town, but do know that a win against the Dolly Blues could see them move three points behind the hosts with a game in-hand.

Fresh from their FA Cup heroics against National League side Hartlepool United on Tuesday night, Gainsborough Trinity return to league action for the first time in four weeks when they host FC United of Manchester. The two sides have the best defences in the league when it comes to clean sheets, both registering seven in their 10 league games so far. With both sides having games in-hand over their promotion rivals, Saturday’s clash not only presents an opportunity to get one over a fellow top-six side, but also ensures they keep pace with the teams around them who have played more.

 Warrington Rylands have been in league action three times since Gainsborough’s defeat to Hednesford, and seven points in those games have seen Neil Reynolds’ side rise to second. On Saturday they travel to Ilkeston Town, who have pulled themselves up the table thanks to the current three-game winning run they are enjoying. Only Prescot Cables have drawn more games than Rylands’ six so far this season.  However, Ian Deakin’s side finds themselves on the other end of the scale, with none of their 13 league fixtures ending level. A seventh win in 14 games could see the Robins up into the play-offs, but only if other results go their way.

The same applies to Cleethorpes Town, who are only above Ilkeston on goal difference.  They travel to a Rushall Olympic side who are desperate to get out of their current rut of form. Despite going the first six games unbeaten, three defeats in the last four have seen the Pics drop down to 16th. They’re currently on a three-game run without scoring in the division too, and they’ll be hoping for a positive performance against a strong Cleethorpes side in order to put an end to both their winless and scoreless streak.

Elsewhere, Stockton Town will aim to maintain their unbeaten home record when they welcome Ashton United to the MAP Group UK Stadium. After winning August’s Northern Premier League Manager of the Month award, Steve Cunningham’s side endured a tough September, going winless in the league.  Their midweek win against Hebburn Town was much needed, and their first in Premier Division action since the August Bank Holiday.

Elsewhere, the post-Mark Bower era begins for Guiseley with a trip to Warrington Town. The Yellows haven’t played a league game on home soil for over a month now, and are actually unbeaten with three clean sheets out of three at the Cal.Delivery Stadium in league action. They’ll take encouragement in that, and hope they can pick up some points against a Guiseley side who have scored just twice in their six away games so far this campaign to pull closer to Stocksbridge Park Steels, who sit just above them outside of the relegation zone.

Stocksbridge’s win over the Yellows was their second in a row.  Those results helped Ian Richards’ side climb off the foot of the table and out of the drop zone, and now they have their sights set on climbing further up the division. It won’t be a simple task this weekend, however, as they travel to Valerie Park to take on Prescot Cables. Cables’ strong home form from last season has bled into the current campaign, with the club winning three and drawing three of their six league games in front of their home supporters. Ste Daley’s side can extend their unbeaten run to six league games on Saturday, but with four draws in their previous five, they’ll be hoping to do so with a win.

Both Warrington and Stocksbridge will have an eye below them this weekend as the bottom two sides, Workington and Morpeth Town, face off at Craik Park. It will be the Reds’ first game since Darren Edmonson departed last week, and with both sides winning just once so far in the opening couple of months of the season, they will be eager to hit the front foot this Saturday.

Defeats for Hebburn Town in their last two games have seen the Hornets slip into the bottom half.  They’ll be looking to get back to winning ways this Saturday when they host a Leek Town side who have lost their last four league games.

And finally, Whitby Town will be aiming to build on a couple of impressive wins in their last two against Ashton United and Hednesford when they take on Bamber Bridge. A five-game winless run for the Brig was emphatically ended last time out with a 4-0 win over Rushall Olympic. A second consecutive win would see them leapfrog their opponents. All games are set to kick off at 3pm, unless stated otherwise.
