Curzon Ashton relegation enhances chances of a move to Southern League

The unexpected relegation of Curzon Ashton has increased the possibility of one of the geographically Southern based teams in the Northern Prem being moved to the Southern league.

But we need Belper to win the NPL Midlands playoffs.

If Belper were to be a playoff winner then Ilkeston’s chances of a move to the Southern League would be further enhanced because there would then be seven clubs more Northerly than Ilkeston coming into the Northern Prem to replace the six going out.

Definitely coming into the Northern Prem:  (All more Northerly than Ilkeston)
        1  Alfreton,
        2  Curzon Ashton,
        3  Redcar
        4  Bury
5  NPL East playoff winners (All more Northerly than Ilkeston)
6  NPL West playoff winners (All more Northerly than Ilkeston)

Possibly coming into the Northern Prem :
7 Belper (if they win NPL Midlands playoffs)

Rushall could get the move south before us as they're further south than Ilkeston..
On the other had Ilkeston have been requesting a move for last two years

Re: Curzon Ashton relegation enhances chances of a move to Southern League

Now then, trying to work it out

4 relegated  from national league north, 2 come down to the prem, 2 go where ?

6 teams in total promoted from Midlands / west/  east only 3 relegated from the prem ?

I expect relegated Leamington and Peterborough Sports to go into the Southern League

I also expect promoted Anstey Nomads to go into the Southern League

Re: Curzon Ashton relegation enhances chances of a move to Southern League

.
We now know the teams most likely to come into the Northern Prem Premier Div.

promoted teams from Step4 :
NPL East    Redcar and Emley
NPL West.   Bury and  Avro

Anstey and Warwick from NPL Mids are Southern based so will go into Southern League

Redcar, Emley, Bury and Avro will go into Northern Prem, Premier Division
Relegated Alfreton and Curzon Ashton will also go into the Northern Prem  Premier Division
That’s six incoming teams to replace the two teams promoted to NLNorth and 3 relegated
That brings the NPL back up to 22 teams.

There will be no need to move Rushall or any other team to the Southern League

And this is what I think the make up of the NPL for next season will be

    1 Ashton United
    2 Bamber Bridge
    3 Cleethorpes
    4 FC United
    5 Gainsborough
    6 Guiseley
    7 Hyde
    8 Ilkeston
    9 Lancaster
   10 Leek
   11 Rushall
   12 Stockton
   13 Warrington Town
   14 Whitby
   15 Workington
16 Loser of Hednesford v Warrington Rylands Playoff Final
   17 Alfreton
   18 Curzon Ashton

   19 Avro
   20 Bury
   21 Emley
   22 Redcar

Re: Curzon Ashton relegation enhances chances of a move to Southern League

The only question I have is between anstey and rushall.

Which one is more north?

,
That’s a good point Alex
I was thinking that Rushall was further North than Anstey but apparently it is not.

Anstey (Leicestershire) is more northerly than Rushall (West Midlands).

  • Anstey is located just north-west of Leicester in the East Midlands.
  • Rushall is located near Walsall in the West Midlands,  further south than Anstey.

So it could be Anstey in the Northern Prem and Rushall moved to the Southern League

If Anstey Nomads replaced Rushall, this would be a really tough league :

     1 Ashton United
     2 Bamber Bridge
     3 Cleethorpes
     4 FC United
     5 Gainsborough
     6 Guiseley
     7 Hyde
     8 Ilkeston
     9 Lancaster
   10 Leek
   11 Stockton
   12 Warrington Town
   13 Whitby
   14 Workington
15 Loser of Hednesford v Warrington Rylands Playoff Final
   16 Alfreton
   17 Curzon Ashton

18 Anstey Nomads
   19 Avro
   20 Bury
   21 Emley
   22 Redcar

Re: Curzon Ashton relegation enhances chances of a move to Southern League

Just to throw a spanner in the works! If Spalding United fail to beat Real Bedford in the Southern League play offs this will be further north than Rushall and Anstey. However they are much further East!

Re: Curzon Ashton relegation enhances chances of a move to Southern League

According to Google, based on geographical coordinates, Spalding is the most northerly location among the six teams below.

Spalding (Lincolnshire): ~52.79° N
Hednesford (Staffordshire): ~52.70° N
Anstey (Leicestershire): ~52.68° N
Rushall (West Midlands): ~52.60° N
Bedford (Bedfordshire): ~52.13° N

If Spalding win the playoff final against Real Bedford they as the most Northerly club could come into the NPL Premier Division instead of my original guess Anstey Nomads

If Real Bedford win then they would most likely go in the Southern League because they are the most Southerly of the above teams

If Hednesford were to lose their playoff final they should stay in the Northern Prem but they and Rushall are located so near to each other (only 8 miles apart) that they both could be kept together in the Northern Prem or both moved to the Southern league.
If they were both moved to the Southern League then there would be another place in the Northern Prem.
Alternatively if Hednesford and Rushall were kept in the Northern Prem then that could open up an opportunity for Ilkeston to be transferred to the Southern League.

So many permutations :  Lets see how the playoff finals finish.

Re: Curzon Ashton relegation enhances chances of a move to Southern League

Annual question

Which do you prefer

Which would the club prefer

Is it a cop out to move south if it’s easier

Can we afford to go up from either decision.

Are their any teams full time in the conference north / south

Is next season really 12-14 weeks away

Do we get into Europe having won the DSC ?

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Just realised I'ved messed up with the above post.

The Spalding v Real Bedford playoff final is for a place at Step 2 not Step 3

It’s time for me to go.
