Okay, so Saturday 4th September we have been drawn to play against Halesowen Town away in the FA Cup 1st qualifying round.

This match should be quickly followed by another away match against Coleshill Town on Monday night 6th September providing that either Ilkeston or Coleshill don’t have to replay their cup match.

Coleshill have been drawn against Long Eaton United away.

There’s a fair chance that either Ilkeston or Coleshill could be involved in a replay causing the Coleshill v Ilkeston league match to be postponed.

Re: FA Cup First Qualifying Round Draw

.

After just four matches and four straight wins it’s becoming clear that Halesowen Town will be one of our major rivals in the battle for promotion.

They’ve won all three of the opening league games, Cambridge  2-1 away, Shepshed 5-1 at home and Bedworth 2-1 away.

They’ve also beaten Sutton Coldfield 3-0  in the FA Cup

So our FA Cup match on 4th September looks like being a very clear indicator of whether we are good enough to achieve our promotion goal.

It’s always been difficult to get a result against The Yeltz at their ground in front their large fan base which is every bit as vocal as ours.

The Cup is not a priority but the result will still be important because both teams will want prove their superiority and take the momentum from a confidence boosting win into their league campaign.

This match is as important as our opening game at Stamford. Let’s hope for a similar performance and result.
