Ilkeston Town Ladies 0 Peterborough United Ladies 3
After winning their opening match against Coalville by 4-3, Ilkeston Ladies hosted Peterborough United in their first home game. Peterborough had also won their opening game, beating Loughborough Vixens 4-0.
There were few clear chances early on as defences stood firm. The two big opportunities in the first half belonged to Ilkeston but they were thwarted on both occasions by outstanding saves from the Peterborough keeper. Then just before half time the visitors took the lead somewhat against the run of play.
Halfway through the second half Peterborough began to take control and it was no surprise when they scored again. The second goal boosted Peterborough’s confidence and ten minutes later they added third. Peterborough had the best player on the field in Destiny Makanjuola. Millie Huckle and Shannon Pike defended well for Ilkeston but after riding their luck in the first half, Peterborough ran out comfortable winners.
