Looking ahead

.

Looking ahead on WhiteBall  :

There are four matches in our league tomorrow night including Stamford v Halesowen.  Score updates from these games.

This weeks midweek games :

Tues 28 Sep 2021
Belper Town  v  Sporting Khalsa
Daventry Town  v  Shepshed Dynamo
Stamford  v  Halesowen Town
Wisbech Town v Loughborough Dynamo

Wed 29 Sep 2021
Cambridge City  v  Yaxley

As we reach the end of September most teams will have played nine or ten matches and we are able to see which teams look the strongest and I noticed that Bedworth recently signed eight new players. We look at how certain teams have performed so far.

In case you missed it :  On Sat 9th October Ilkeston will play Daventry away in the 2nd round of the FA Trophy after Daventry surprisingly beat Stamford 1-0 in the first round.

Re: Looking ahead

.

A look at the league table.

It’s early days but at this moment in time Halesowen look favourites for the automatic promotion slot having only dropped two points. Ilkeston by comparison have dropped ten points. So the visit to Halesowen on 23rd October has to be regarded as a must win game if we have any hopes of catching them.
Stamford and Belper have made a stuttering starts having lost three matches each.
Chasetown and Coleshill are the surprise good starters. Chasetown have produced some impressive results beating Belper, Ilkeston and Stamford.
Not much was known about Coleshill. They’re currently second but have had a comparatively easy start and have not beaten any of the big teams. They’ve lost to Stamford, Ilkeston and Chasetown so they are possibly in a slightly enhanced position.
Carlton are third but after a really good start recently went three matches without a win.
Loughborough made a slow start but a run of four consecutive wins before losing to Bedworth lifted them to their current position of 7th.
Cambridge have not done as well as expected but they have won three of their last four matches so are showing signs of recovery.
Spalding United have also under-performed but they have beaten Stamford.
Corby have not lived unto expectations so far. They’ve only played two of the big teams, Stamford and Halesowen and lost to both of them.
Bedworth have also made an unimpressive start but have recently signed eight new players in an obvious attempt to remedy matters.
Both promoted teams, Sporting Khalsa and Shepshed Dynamo should be happy with their reasonable starts.

I’d have taken our start if offered it. Not ideal but not bad. Hanging in there with a few winnable ones to come

Re: Looking ahead

Same here Dick I would take it before the start of the season. We need this good run going ready for the Halesowen game albeit weeks away.
But first there's this Sat to hopefully get another three points .

Re: Looking ahead

Halesowen have been two up a few times and let it slip in the final  minutes .......... they are still flying but if they didnt let a two goal lead slip they would miles away from anyone else in the league.

Re: Looking ahead

Halesowen are not a young side. Maybe why they run out of legs. We ran em ragged down there second half with many fringe players playing

The left sided c half carries a bit of timber and one of the c mids, whilst technically good, can’t run

That said, they clawed back from 2 nil to draw with Carlton a couple of weeks ago. Their left winger Chris Lait is class. As is Harry White the number 9. But they do have weaknesses

Midweek wins for Loughborough, Belper and Cambridge have improved their positions. I expected Spalding and Corby to be higher and I didn't expect Stamford to be outside the playoff places but there's a long way to go.

Ilkeston's two latest signings confirm Dave and Andy's determination to give promotion a real go.
It's going to take a remarkable run of results to overtake Halesowen for the automatic promotion spot but if we managed to beat them twice, then it can be done. Our match on their ground this month ( 23rd October) is of vital importance and we need to have lots of vocal support. Players really appreciate the encouragement that fans give so It would be immense to have 200 fans travel to that game. I know travel secreatary Zane Henson is doing his best to drum up support.

Re: Looking ahead

Looking ahead to the Halesowen away match on 23rd October.

Although early days, the Supporters Group recognise the importance of this match. Halesowen are looking favourites to take the one automatic promotion spot having dropped only 4 points compared to Ilkeston’s 10 points dropped. We really need to do all we can to help the team get a result in this game. We really want to finish as Champions if we possibly can. Yes, there’s every chance that we can finish in the top five but the playoffs are a lottery and we could lose out. There’s a long way to go but this match is vital.

At the Supporters Group Committee meeting last night it was decided to make travel to this game half price in an attempt to maximise support. Instead of the usual £10 for members and extra for non members it will be just £5 for everyone. The Supporters Group plan to take two coaches leaving at different times and will stand the financial loss. New supporters of all ages are very welcome.

It is recognised that Oct 23rd is Ilkeston Fair Saturday and also the start of a school holiday week which could reduce numbers. The coaches should be back in Ilkeston between 6 30pm and 7pm so still plenty of time to visit the Fair.

Halesowen get good gates so it’s sure to be a fantastic atmosphere for this top of the table clash as well as being a cracking game. All sides of the Halesowen ground are sloped so you’re sure to have a good view whether standing or sitting.

Admission prices at Halesowen are:
£10    Adults
£7      Seniors (60+)
£7      Students (Under 21 on production of a valid Student card)
£4      13-18 years old
Free   Under 12 with paying adult or senior
