Re: Loughborough Dynamo v Ilkeston Town : 13th Nov 2021

Loughborough Dynamo's Match Report :

MATCH REPORT: DYNAMO 1 ILKESTON 5      BY JAMES KENDRICK.

Loughborough Dynamo fell to a disappointing defeat at home to Ilkeston Town in a 5-1 defeat at the Newton Fallowell Stadium

The attendance of 429 was The Moes highest home attendance since their records began in August 2012.

On the pitch, however, things didn’t really go so well. Ilkeston Town took the lead after just five minutes when a missed defensive header from a long throw gave Zak Goodson a free header to make it 1-0 to the away side.

Dynamo did improve after they went behind and for 25 minutes or so after the goal, they were the better team. If the Moes could have found the back of the net with one of their chances, the game could have been very different.

Striker Courey Grantham had a great chance as he was played through 1-on-1 but the Ilkeston keeper got the better of him and made two good saves. Dan Collins and Tristan Matthews also had shots in the box but couldn’t find the net either.

However, Dynamo just couldn’t find an equaliser and when Ilkeston scored two quick goals just before half time it was all over. In the 40th minute Zac Goodson got his second goal of the game after some nice one touch passing in and around the box left him free in the box to beat goalkeeper Ruben Rabstein.

Then just three minutes later, Kieran Fenton scored an excellent free kick from just over 20 yards out that found the top corner of the net.

In the second half as Dynamo pushed for a goal to get back into the game, lots of space started to open up on the pitch and Ilkeston were twice able to hit Loughborough Dynamo on the counterattack.

On the 63rd minute, Alex Troke was able to make it 4-0 before Remaye Campbell made it 5-0 a bit later. By this time the game was long over but Dynamo goalkeeper Ruben Rabstein still had to made some good saves to keep the score down to five.

Loughborough Dynamo did get a consolation goal in stoppage time as winger Sacha Markelic, who had just come on as a sub, was able to get his first goal for the club as he tapped the ball into an open goal at the back post after a cross came in from the left.

Today’s game marked the end of Loughborough’s five fixtures in a row against the top five teams in the league, in which they claimed just one point and now new Head Coach Brad Munn has a chance to properly settle into his role and hopefully get the Moes back on a role.

Loughborough Dynamo team: Rabstein, Kamden, Jacklin, Gordon, Coleman, Norris ©, Burrows, Bastos (Steadman 68’), Matthews, Grantham (Markelic 76’), Collins   Dynamo unused subs: Alexander, Andrews, Young
Dynamo goal: Markelic
Attendance: 429

Re: Loughborough Dynamo v Ilkeston Town : 13th Nov 2021

Ultimately comfortable but for 25 minutes after our opener Loughborough were the better side. They played some nice stuff and with more in the final third might have been level

But a subtle shape change in moving Troke wider left matched them in midfield and our purple patch before the interval sealed the win

Shame to concede - but being honest the hosts deserved a goal. We could have scored 6 or 7 though. Their keeper made 3 decent saves and we wasted a few but a good win. Nice to be top

This is undoubtedly our best eleven. And probably the best on paper starting eleven in the league. So let’s hope for good luck with injuries/ referees and the bounce of the ball and keep ploughing on

Nice set up at Loughborough. Decent pitch and good people too

Re: Loughborough Dynamo v Ilkeston Town : 13th Nov 2021

Strange first half where for long periods Loughborough looked the better team and we struggled to cope with their pace, mobility, and speed of attack. But we gradually got on top and then we’re 3 up at the break - the sort of thing that happens when you’re on a good run and full of confidence. Lovely passing move for our second and what a strike from Fenton for our third.

Game over after that really and we could easily have ended up with 6 or 7. Chapman just oozes class in the middle of the park, and a special mention for me for Remaye Campbell who worked tirelessly throughout the game, held the ball up really well, and thoroughly deserved his goal.

Strange seeing Charlie Wakefield on the left wing and I’m not sure he’s that comfortable there as he tends to wander all over the park cos he wants to be in the thick of the action. Playing him there does us give nice width down both flanks though and it seems to be working well enough at the moment!

Well played boys; nine points from Cambridge, Yaxley, and Wisbech please.

Seems odd to me that 429 is Loughborough’s highest home attendance since their records began in August 2012. I would have expected a few higher attendances.

Loughborough are a very well run club who sadly are poorly supported by their local population. It  may be down to Loughborough being a university town with a university team Loughborough Students or it could be their closeness to Shepshed Dynamo. It is difficult to imagine the town once supported a Football League Division two side and a relatively successful Midland League side.

I think Ollie Brown-Hill deserves a mention.
He came on half way through the second half for the superb Adam Chapman and immediately made an impact.
He chased, he tackled and he was involved in several good moves.
Exactly what you want from a sub who is brought on.
He did the same when brought on late against Corby, winning us a penalty
Ollie would walk into many teams at this level.

You are right Ollie has done really well when called upon. He had a slow start to the season and looked a bit unfit at times but could have been carrying an injury. We are lucky he is still with us as he would be a key player in most teams in our league. Saying all that Ollie could still get a regular place in the Ilkeston team at any point during the season. He is a popular player at the NMG and that is because of his workmate and his ability to turn a game with a piece of positive play.

Agree about Ollie he is a very valuable key player to the club although he`s had a slow start he`s playing really good football now. . The whole team seem  to have gelled now scoring goals even when we arent  playing  so well grounding out results . Goals are coming from all over the place which a massive factor but the biggest point is the defence is miles better .

Re: Loughborough Dynamo v Ilkeston Town : 13th Nov 2021

Yes it looks really good on the pitch at the moment and I am sure there will be a few downs amongst hopefully many ups. However I think this side looks like a title winning outfit. The defence seem to have found a way of avoiding giving away the odd soft goal which is a massive bonus and boosts everyones confidence!
