Yesterday was a really good effort by the lads even though it was another defeat. We led at half time thanks to a well taken goal by Luis Rose but unfortunately we conceded an equaliser only two minutes into the second half. We then had a really good double chance to regain the lead but couldn't take it. We were made to pay when Stafford benefited from a lucky deflection which set them up for the winner. Nevertheless it was a battling performance in which Ilkeston defended really well and Jamie Hannis was my star performer. We were congratulated by the Stafford officials after the game for the way we played.
Ilkeston enjoyed great support from about a hundred fans in the impressive 763 attendance, many of whom travelled independently. Despite going so long without a win we are most fortunate have such a solid band of supporters willing to get behind the Club through difficult times.
Well done to Pete who came into the Stafford Rangers Chairman's Lounge to speak with Nigel Harrop before the game.
Forgot to mention that Carl Stokes also came in and sat with us. I asked him if his team didn't have a game and he said yes they were playing but he wanted to come and watch Ilkeston and he was wearing his IlkestonFC coat.
