3 points. Still top. But for me not vintage Ilkeston
A sloppy display against poor opposition. Seemed to me we were just doing enough. Both times they scored we upped our game as we had enough in the tank
Not helped of course by Verma & Bennett being unavailable though but we can be so much better than this. Let’s just take it and move on
With Stamford & Belper losing for me it’s now a three horse race for me. Beat Halesowen & Chasetown and it’s firmly in our hands
Onwards & upwards

thought we were going through motions at times , did the job we needed to do with a few scares . Thought we jumped a gear when needed but was a concerned when it went to 4-2 but no worries Ramaye got his hat trick motm for me , he always gives 100% . Just loved his third goal which i got on my mobile ( look on twitter to see the goal ) hopefully someone has put it other social media . When Sutton got their deserved equalizer i thought we looked a bit lack luster , but no we picked it up . Its building up to be a cracker v Halesowen but first we play Soham away another game i wont take for granted , as they say one game at a time .........i will say again my MOTM Ramaye !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another win another 3pts. Let's keep building on it.
I've got lots of questions but this is not the time.

Nice to see Remaye scoring again. He’s been playing well but without reward. For me Chapman has become one of our most influential players. When he is on the pitch we control games but we lose something when he goes off. Not one of our best performances against Sutton Coldfield but we still won comfortably.
Top Eight :

6. Carlton Town 23 +20 44
7. Coleshill Town 24 +16 42
8. Bedworth United 24 + 3 38
Still 15 games to play (or 7 if Covid ends the season) but it’s starting to look like a two horse race now between Ilkeston and Halesowen. I thought the Yeltz might drop points against Stamford but they keep on winning. The match at the NMG is starting to look like a title decider. With the exception of Chasetown, the other teams are starting to lose ground. I haven’t written off Stamford but they’re 10 points in arrears now.
Our 15 remaining games include five big tests, the most important being Halesowen which is one we cannot afford to lose. A draw aginst the Yeltz would still leave our destiny in our own hands because of our superior goal difference.
Ilkeston’s key matches to come :
Jan 29 Halesowen home
Feb 26 Carlton home
Mar 12 Chasetown away
Mar 19 Coleshill home
Apr 16 Bedworth away
Halesowen’s key matches to come :
Jan 29 Ilkeston away

I don’t think all will be lost should we lose the Halesowen game
There will be more twists and turns to come. We’ve got a good record v top sides and there’s no reason we can’t beat both Chasetown & Halesowen. If offered 4 points from those games (or 2 draws) I’d take it now
Our squad is as good as any. If we get good luck with injuries / decisions etc we’ll be fine. It’s shaping into a fine season on and off the pitch

Thought we played some good football first half, got a couple of goals in front, and then just seemed to coast for the rest of the game. Sutton were limited and we didn't need to be at our best, but still. Very lax at the back at times. I wonder if we missed a little bit of Billy Bennett's intensity.
I agree about Adam Chapman, such a good footballing brain, quick feet, quick thinking, and excellent technique. They often take him off after about an hour and we're never quite the same team without him.
The new lad looked like a replacement for Paddy Webb. Not fair to judge on his first appearance really but boy, he missed a chance I think even I could have scored. Did the difficult bit in taking it round the keeper but then just seemed to lose his balance.
Yes, good to see Campbell back in the goals. He does work hard and I thought his hold-up play was better yesterday.
Not the best weather to stand around watching a footy match, but I was hoping for more than 670 yesterday.

After having a day to think about our performance it was nt that bad.
We played some good football when we wanted to,which Sutton couldn't handle. Felt sorry for Ollie. The lad has done nothing wrong but never gets a run out.
We also missed Billy. There wasn't the balance that we normally have. Back 4 played well but we were as a team a little sloppy at times.
Man of the match has to be Mr Campbell. 3 goals and great hold up play.
Overall lots of 7 out of 10s.

Hopefully somebody can answer my question.
We only named 4 subs but Verma was there but not on the bench.

Ilkeston Town 5 Sutton Coldfield Town 2
Remaye Campbell ended a six game barren spell with a hat-trick as Ilkeston eased to a comfortable win. It wasn’t a vintage performance but good enough to take the points and keep Ilkeston at the top of the league.
The first chance fell to Zak Goodson inside the area but his effort was wide. On 14 minutes Campbell put Ilkeston ahead when he latched on to a defender’s back pass, took it round the keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net. Three minutes later Sutton almost scored a spectacular equaliser. Isai Marselia who was on the half way line spotted Ross Durrant off his line and produced a tantalising effort which was only just wide. On 27 minutes Goodson nearly gave Ilkeston a two goal advantage when his shot was tipped onto the top of the crossbar by Sutton keeper Jonathan Brown. The Royals levelled on 30 minutes through Marselia after good work by Desean Martin but Ilkeston regained the lead when Kieran Fenton powered in a header in from a corner. Just before half time Sutton had a great chance to draw level again. Marselia got past Durrant but his effort came back off the post and fell to Martin who fired over when he should have scored. They were punished for the miss when Alex Troke made it 3-1 on the stroke of half time.
Seven minutes into the second half Callum King-Harmes handled in the area and Campbell converted to penalty to make it 4-1. A great run by Jonathan Letford ended with a Marselia strike which was well saved by Durrant but Sutton deservedly pulled a goal back through Charles Swan on 78 minutes. Ilkeston’s three goal lead was soon to be restored though following a James Reid free kick which struck the crossbar. The rebound fell to Campbell who hammered the ball home to complete his hat-trick.

I'm doing home games until at least the end of the season. Then see how it goes from there. I just don't want it to take over my life again, the way it did at Basford.

SUTTON COLDFIELD TOWN MATCH REPORT
MATCH REPORT - ILKESTON TOWN 5 - 2 SCTFC BY ALEXANDER MOLONEY
Mark Sanders reports on a difficult afternoon away to title chasers Ilkeston Town.It was another away trip to Derbyshire for The Royals this weekend, to take on the might of league leaders Ilkeston Town. Thorpe’s men knew they were in for a tough game at the New Manor ground having already lost out to the Robins earlier in the season.
Thorpe’s side for the game was as follows Brown, Hurley, Eden, Burgess, Beresford, Redfern, King-Harmes, Dodd, Marselia, Martin, Letford.
Sutton took a while to settle into the game with Ilkeston having plenty of the ball, but Sutton nearly got on the score sheet. Martin ran wide with the ball, fired it in for Dodd to strike from centre, but unlike last week Dodd’s strike went sailing over the crossbar. Ilkeston pressure finally told when Campbell latched onto a ball, rounded Brown who had come out to close down, and slotted into the net for an easy finish 1-0 Ilkeston.
Marselia tried to lob the keeper from way out, but his effort went wide of the goal. King-Harmes had a good run allowing Crossfield to shoot across goal, but it went just wide of the far post. Ilkeston were seeing a lot of possession and nearly made it count as Goodson hit one from the edge of the box. It was brilliantly saved with the help of the crossbar by Brown.
On the half hour mark, some great work wide by Martin enabled him to provide an excellent cross into the box. It saw Marselia tap the ball home at the far post. 1-1.
Disaster for Sutton on 37 minutes. After getting back into the game, they fell behind again from a corner which was headed in by Fenton at the back post. 2-1 Ilkeston.
Sutton nearly got back into the game when a brilliant run by Marselia put him in one on one with Durrant in the Ilkeston goal. He did the hard work rounding him but his shot hit the post and came back to Martin who blasted the ball over the crossbar when a tap in would have done.
Ilkeston increased their lead moments later when some good wide play put Troke in to score from close range. The half finished 3-1 to Ilkeston with Sutton ruing missed opportunities.
Ilkeston started the second half on the front foot and put Brown to work straight away with a bullet header being finger tipped save over the bar. Thorpe made a change on 52 minutes taking off Dodd and bringing on Ishichei. Martin saw an effort go wide of the post, a speculative effort, but a chance all the same.
Disaster for The Royals when a hand to ball in the box is given against King-Harmes which gifts the Robins with a penalty. (I blame the fog for obstructing the referee’s vision!) Campbell made no mistake, and slotted home to the left of Brown. 4-1 Ilkeston.
Marselia was put through into the box, but before he could get his shot off, the challenge came in to take the ball away. King-Harmes had a good run across goal, but his shot went just wide of the far post. Sutton were not letting their heads drop, and were continuing to attack wherever possible.
65 minutes in and King-Harmes was replaced by youngster Charles Swan .Letford went on a fantastic run, beating several defenders before laying off to Marselia for a strike, which was well saved by Durrant to keep the score at 4-1.
Blondie hit an effort from distance, but unfortunately it went straight over the bar. Sutton won a corner and Beresford managed to get his head on it which deflected off Letford’s head and wide of the far post.
Final substitution was made on 75 minutes with Wilson coming on for Marselia. 78 minutes in, and Swan ran into the box and slid a ball just inside the post to bring the score to 4-2. It was a well-deserved goal for Sutton who had many chances to get back into the game.
Minutes later, and Ilkeston increased their lead when a free kick was saved by Brown onto the crossbar. Unfortunately, it deflected back into play for Campbell to strike his hat-trick and put the game beyond Sutton.
Martin saw red following a second yellow with a minute to go for dissent, but the game was effectively over and finished 5-2 in favour of Ilkeston. The result was not a fair reflection of the match from Sutton’s point of view. Yes, Ilkeston were the better team, and yes, The Royals had many chances and played a good game, but on a different day, who knows, the result could have been very different.

Sorted Now Alex! Sometimes after a pint I have no idea which button I have pressed! Strangley I have never done that before and sometimes I have wanted to. So I've learnt something new Thanks again Alex! Have you walked the Bennerly Viaduct yet? Great few of the juniors pitch but the trees now obscure the NMG!
PS We need to get some posts on the Supporters section.
