    Tue 8 February '22 Ilkeston Town v Loughborough Dynamo - KO 7 45pm

    .

    There's only 6 home matches and 6 away matches left now so don't miss any.

    Loughborough Dynamo are mid table and are one of those teams who are capable of springing a surprise result.
    (They held Halesowen to a draw) 

    Dynamo are currently on a run of tough fixtures against the top teams and are winless in their last five matches losing against Chasetown, Coleshill, and Bedworth, and drawing with Carlton and Daventry. 

    Their away record is P13, W5, D1 L7.  They will be desperate to halt their winless run so we cannot be complacent.
    We won the away fixture by 5-1 but a similar result on Tuesday night may be harder to achieve.

    AST GAMES AGAINST LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO
     
    The first game we played against a team from Loughborough was in 1894 when we played Loughborough Town twice in the Midland League. We then entertained Loughborough Corinthians twenty times in the Central Alliance between 1915 and 1934. We also played their reserves six times. After the war we also played 18 games against Loughborough based Brush Sports and their reserve side between 1946 and 1957. We then played Loughborough United twenty times in the Midland Counties League between 1961 and 1971 In fact the post war version of Ilkeston Towns first ever Midland Counties League was away to United. In 2018/19 we played Loughborough University twice in the Midlands Football League including a memorable 8-1 win in a dramatic title winning end to the season.
     
    We have played Loughborough Dynamo four times winning two drawing one and losing our last encounter. That game on 13thMarch 2020 was the last fixture before the Covid pandemic closed down almost all football. Since then nothing has ever been the same and perhaps it never will be. I like many other people wrongly thought we would be back to normal in a couple of months.

    The next instalment of our promotion chasing season is tonight. Every game from now on is vital. Please come and support the team tonight. Attendances at evening games are normally lower than for Saturday matches and there's not many matches left now so don't miss out. Watch the match and stay for a drink in the clubhouse afterwards. 

    Halesowen won last night so we need to win too.

    Five minutes to kickoff. Looking round the ground it looks like a poor turnout. It's turned cold tonight after a mild day.

    The teams are out. Ilkeston are in their home kit. dynamo are in yellow shirts and black shorts.

    Ilkeston start by attacking the car park end.

    First shot on goal by Chapman but Keeper saves.  Dynamo go straight dow the other end and score. through Steadman     0-1    4 minutes

    Ilkeston pressing but it's till 1-1.  Troke just fails to find Zak with a through ball. Maguire mistake nearly lets in Dynamo but he atones with a goal line clearance.      1-1     33 mins

    Williams is featuring in some good attacking moves down the right.  Wakefield cross lands on the net.  Great run by Wakefield . He finds Campbell whose shot is blocked.     1-1       40 mins

    Loughborough playing with a bit more confidence now. Ilkeston still pushing forward but they're a man short at the back.  Ilkeston corner.  Bird to take.  Ball falls to Gibson but it goes wide. Terrific effort from Gibson but Keeper denies him.             1-1       82 mins
