Re: Ilkeston v Corby Town UPDATES

The young Ilkeston will be very disappointed not to have got something from this game. Corby took an early lead when Hannis parried a shot invitingly into the feet of Bell. Ilkeston did not let their heads drop and fought hard to get back into the game. Rose and Bather both missed chances which a confident striker would have netted. In the second half the Robins continued to dominate the game but Corby still looked dangerous on the break. As the game wore on it became more obvious that Ilkesron were not going to get the break they desperately need to halt their run of poor results.
Corby were by no means the best side that have faced this season which makes the defeat more galling for the gallant Robins. Ilkeston need to beat teams like Corby to stand any chance of avoiding relegation. The skills are there and the players know how to pass the ball. What appears to be missing is decision making and a clinical streak especially in front of goal. Nobody can doubt their spirit and workrate they need a bit of luck to kick start their season again. A proven goal scorer would not go amiss either!
