League leaders Blyth were just too good for Ilkeston. Dante Leverock made his debut replacing the injured Jaylon Bather. Blyth went ahead with a header from Rivers after just 5 minutes. Ilkeston then kept them out until two minutes before half time when Robbie Dale scored his usual ridiculous goal from nowhere. When Rivers made it three after 53 minutes the game was beyond Ilkeston. Blyth's clinical finishing was in contrast to Ilkeston's laboured approach. Wrightson and Maguire added two more with still twenty minutes left. Ilkeston then had their best spell but were unable to pull one back. Leverock had an impressive first game and Tevahn Tyrell caused the Blyth defenders problems when he came on in the second half. When leaving the field after the game, Robbie Dale handed his captains arm band to a young Ilkeston fan.

Looked like we still in the game after the first goal went in and holding our own. It all changed with Robbie Dales goal out of nothing. It's not fair really he's far too good for this level of football and he makes it look so easy! After his goal it looked like Blyth were going to score every time they went forward. Ilkestons made a bit of a comeback late on but we were 5-0 down by then! On the plus side Dale Eve and Dante Leverock look like good signings and we won't have to face Robbie Dale again this season. Ilkeston will be looking forward to facing teams that have a realistic chance of competing with. Barring a miracle or a vast input of cash relegation is looking unavoidable!
