Ilkeston are scheduled to play host to Warrington Town on Saturday. However the pitch at 1:30pm on Thursday still had standing water on it and their is heavy rain forecast tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed the wind and intermittent sunshine might dry the pitch out for Saturday as the weather is forecast to be rainless on Saturday!

Sadly I went down to the ground again this afternoon and I think we need drought of biblical proportions to get it played tomorrow! Saying that it was obvious enough that the club were working hard to get the water off the pitch! They need a massive giant sponge!! Hope I'm wrong!

Having had a good hour to think about today's game has still not helped make sense of what was a very disturbing afternoon. Ilkeston started brightly enough and were matching Warrington in what was an uneventful first half. The Robins had the best of the chances with Danny Gordon had a long range effort which forced a good save out of the visitors keeper. The second half however turned on the hour when Max Thornberry was dismissed after bringing down a Warrington player and being the last man. The free kick was saved but McCarthy scored after a goalmouth scramble. The goal knocked the stuffing out of Ilkeston and they never looked like getting back into the game. Unsurprisingly Warrington got a second in the dying seconds when they virtually walked through the Ilkeston defence to enable McCarthy to get his second.
The defeat was depressing but what was worse for the first time this season the players seemed to throw in the towel. For the first time this season it appeared that the off the field problems had effected their performance. Rumours of players not being paid obviously leads to a belief that the Ilkeston dressing room might not be as happy as it should be. It is known the club has financial difficulties but the time has come for some action to be seen to be being taken to solve the issues the club have. If a change of ownership is the answer it appears that it needs to happen as soon as possible!
Surely things can only get better! Can't they?

First of all well done to Graham and Matthew for getting the pitch playable after all the rain.
I have to agree with everything in the above summary. The team appeared to accept defeat after Max's red card and immediately going behind. It's a sad state of affairs at the moment with relegation now looking inevitable. The after match goings on left me feeling very depressed.
