I wasn't there but it sounds like Saturday's match was a reality check for Jamie Ward. I expected it to be a tough game and it won't be easy in the replay. Anstey are obviously a decent side but we ought to be able to advance to the next round with home advantage. If we win what about Basford in the next round. Buxton would be good for Jamie Ward. Hope we don't draw Coalville away.

Before their 1-1 FA Cup draw with Ilkeston on Saturday, Anstey had won 8 matches on the bounce. Their only defeat this season was 2-4 against Heanor Town. They finished 3rd last season behind Long Eaton United and Gresley Rovers.
We need to be at our best in the replay as the Nomads with nothing to lose, will no doubt rise to the occasion at the NMG.

O’GRADY STRIKE EARNS ROBINS REPLAY
Anstey Nomads 1
Armeni 43’
Ilkeston Town 1
O’Grady 76’
Att 602
A tremendous goal by Chris O‘Grady, his first for Ilkeston, ensured the Robins a second attempt at beating plucky Anstey Nomads in this seasons FA Cup. In warm weather more akin to the cricket season Anstey had took the lead with a goal from Corey Armeni on 43 minutes.
Ilkeston looked the stronger team in the early stages with the flat grass pitch favouring their passing game. Montel Gibson tried a long range lob over the very vocal Conran Logan in the Anstey goal but it was a yard too high. On 17 minutes Keiran Fenton hit the bar with a trademark free kick. Anstey however grew in confident and started to cause some problems for the Ilkeston defence. Billy Snaith headed just over the bar on 28 minutes and four minutes later Michael Reeves shot was well saved by Saul Deeney.
The game started to become a dour struggle for Ilkeston as they tried to create openings against a resolute and combative Anstey rearguard. The home side still looked dangerous when they pumped high balls into the Ilkeston penalty area though and it was no surprise when one of these forays yielded a result. Ilkeston failed to clear a high ball and it fell to Corey Armeni whose scuffed shot deflected off Freddie Robbinson’s posterior and looped in to the net.
Manager Jamie Ward introduced Jack Thomas at half-time and the Robins started to show greater urgency as Anstey appeared to sit back and defend their slender lead. Despite dominating possession Ilkeston were still finding it difficult to breakdown the Anstey defence. The home side started to waste time and disrupt the flow of the game very early in the second half. This tactic did appear to be working until another of Ilkeston’s substitutes O’Grady took matters into his own hands on the 76 minutes when he collected a ball outside the area, skilfully bought it under control and struck it into the corner of the net from 25 yards out. The Robins continued to press for a winner but a replay was guaranteed when the characterful Logan pulled off an excellent save from Gibson with two minutes to go.
It was probably to be expected that after the exertions in their first win of the league season on Tuesday at Coalville Ilkeston might be lacking in vigour. However they were faced with a very organised team who had a game plan which up until the 76 the minutes was working perfectly. Anstey defended in numbers, sneaked a messy opener and then tried to hold on for a victory at all costs. Ilkeston did find it difficult to create openings and the Joe Wilson Declan Eratt-Thompson combination was well shackled in the second half. Ilkeston did look much more positive when Thomas was introduced in the after the break and the midfield in general were less bullied by Anstey high tempo game.
The replay will not be an easy game for the Robins but they should have enough firepower and skill to beat Anstey. It is difficult not to think that Anstey lost their best chance to win the tie when they decided to sit and defend for the whole of the second half in which they did not manage an effort on goal. On the other hand they may decide they have nothing to lose and go all out for a win at the NMG.
Ilkeston Town line up:- Deeney, Wilson, Bennett, Solanke (Thomas 45’), Willock, Fenton, Eratt-Thompson (O’Grady 70’), Troke, Campbell, Gibson and Brown-Hill (O’Hanlon 62’). Subs not used Turner and Bukowski.
Anstey Nomads line up:- Logan, Bayliss, Wolfe, Annable, Gibbens, Robbinson, Armeni, Snaith (Blackshaw 83’), Reeve, Wakefield (Hollis 85’) and Omotola (Clarke 87’)

The winners of tonights game will host Shefford United and Campton from the Spartan South Midlands League in the next round of the FA Cup. They are based in the Bedfordshire and have come a long way in a very short time. They are presently at Step 5 and have won the majority of their games this season.
There will be a winner tonight! If the game is tied after ninety minutes there will be extra time and penalties to decide the game.
