Saturday we travel to Coalville for a tasty FA Trophy 3rd round match. Coalville was the scene of our best performance so far when we won 4-1 in the league game. The Ravens will be keen to avenge that defeat. Ilkeston will be smarting from Tuesday night's defeat to St Ives so it should be a keen contest with both sides desperate to win.
Coalville are third in the table while Ilkeston languish near the bottom. Since that defeat to Ilkeston, Coalville have won their last four including a 7-0 win at Rushden & Diamonds. They are also through to the FA Cup 4th qualifying round when they meet Notts County. Their average home attendance this season so far is 489 boosted by over 3000 fans who watched their three previous FA Cup ties.

Tomorrow we have a break from league action with another trip to Coalville, this time in the FA Trophy. The result of this game is somewhat difficult to predict. Will we be able to produce a performance like last time? I doubt it. Coalville know all about us and will have taken steps to stop us playing.
Since our last meeting Coalville have won all four of their matches. They have beaten Macclesfield and Sudbury in the FA Cup and Hednesford and Rushden & Diamonds (7-0) in the league. That’s consistency. We haven’t even managed back to back wins.
Coalville meet Notts County in the FA Cup in a weeks time and that fixture could be on their minds.
I'm expecting Coalville to win this one but If Ilkeston were to win again surely that would be a massive confidence booster.

The current and unavoidable future cost of living increases appear to have affected recent home attendances and that is understandable.
On the other hand, away travel by Ilkeston’s most loyal supporters is holding up so far. The cost of travelling to away matches has increased but once again we have an almost full Supporters Group bus for the trip to Coalville. And with it being a relatively short trip we can expect a good number to travel by car. Hope the team put on a good performance today to reward our diehard fans who are always there.

We've had kit problems with the referee refusing to allow both teams to wear black shorts. Hopefully we're now sorted and will kick off in 15 minutes
It's bright sunshie here at Coalville. It's a grass pitch with quite a slope from one goal to the other.
The teams are now out and Ilkeston are wearing theie red and white shirts with borrowed blue shorts. Coalville are wearing black and white shirts and black shorts. Ilkeston are kicking up the slope.
We're off........

For anyone that didn't go to the match, it was nothing like the scoreline suggests. I would say it was an even game up until Coalville's second goal. In fact Ilkeston were playing well and looked the more likely to win. However when Coalville scored on 82 minutes heads dropped and we capitulated. Coalville were helped with two softish penalty decisions one of which was saved by Battersby. We lost Fenton to an injury early on and I expected Dan Bradley to replace him. as a like for like replacement This didn't happen, Ollie Brown-Hill came on instead and did okay but in my opinion the more robust Bradley would have been better. Just my opinion.

I thought Coalville shaded the first half and probably deserved to go in one ahead at half time. Arlott-John the "Ilson Grealish" scored a brilliant goal straight after the break and Ilkeston were on top and looked like they would go on to win the game. The first penalty was in my opinion a very harsh call and it knocked the stuffing out of the Robins. Coalville then were very clinical and tasted blood and I thought it would get embarrassing. The fourth goal was one that should have been avoided as McGlinchey was allowed to waltz through the defence to score from a tight angle. Anyway the Coalville staff provided great hospitality and are a very friendly well run with lots and lots of volunteers. I wished them luck when they take on Notts County who perhaps will not as generous as we were today.
A couple of fans asked whether we were short of players and it was odd that we only had four subs and no keeper on the bench when we had two keepers watching the game. I presume Ben is still carrying an injury as we cold have done with him after Fenton got injured. Plus how we come to have the same shorts as Coalville I don't know but the blue borrowed shorts grew on me and at times especially when Demps got on the ball I could have been watching Atletico Madrid!
