Alvechurch travel to Forest Green Rovers for the tie of their lives in the FA Cup Second Round Proper.



On Saturday Premier Division Central Alvechurch FC will travel down the M5 to face Forest Green Rovers in what is the biggest FA Cup tie of their recent history.Interestingly, in 1971 Alvechurch and Oxford City entered the Guinness Book of Records for the longest ever FA Cup tie in the competition's history. A six game 11 hour epic never to be beaten, given the change in FA Cup rules.



Alvechurch's progress this season began on Saturday 3rd September when they travelled to Mickleover FC and came away with a 3-2 victory and in the First Round Proper defeated League One Cheltenham Town 2-1 at Whaddon Road. In between those two ties, in order, the Club defeated Harborough Town 4-0 at home, Nuneaton Borough again 4-0 at home and Worksop Town 3-2 at home.Alvechurch again travel down the M5 into Gloucestershire to take on another League One side in Forest Green Rovers, who are currently at the foot of the table. Forest Green Rovers progressed to reach the Second Round Proper by defeating South Shields 2-0 away from home.



Saturday's match is being televised live on BBC1 from 2.45pm, for a 3pm kick off.The Pitching In Southern League wishes the Club and its supporters a safe, enjoyable and victorious Saturday! Good luck, The Church!!
