Okay, we didn't get the win that we needed but we didn't lose either and it was a decent performance against a good team. The draw keeps us in with a slim playoff chance but we now need one of the top five to implode and we have to stay in contention in case that happens.  From a positive viewpoint we're now four games unbeaten and we ought to be able to build on that in our next four matches which are against teams below us in the table.

Tue 28 Feb   Hednesford (away)
Sat  04 Mar  Bromsgrove (away)
Sat 11 Mar   Needham Market (home)
Sat 18 Mar   Royston  (home)

Our recently put together team are getting better with each match and if we were the win the next four then we should be in a better position. Rushall and Nuneaton are probably the most likely of the top five teams to drop points before the end of the season.

The top five play against each other on the following dates:
On 4th March Rushall host Nuneaton
On 7th March  Leiston play against Coalville
On 18th March Nuneaton play against Coalville
On 1st April Rushall go to Leiston
On 4th April Rushall go to Coalville
On 15th April Tamworth host Leiston  (and IlIkeston are at home to Nuneaton)
Not yet arranged :  Tamworth v Nuneaton.

Rushall's brief Match Report.

ILKESTON TOWN  1-1  RUSHALL OLYMPIC
25 February 2023

THE PICS came home from Ilkeston Town with a share of the spoils following a 1-1 draw.
It was the home side who took the lead right on the stroke of half time when they won the ball in the middle of the park and hit us on the counter-attack. As we failed to properly clear our lines, the ball fell to the experienced Leroy Lita who tapped home.
The opening period was a cagey affair for the most part. Jake Weaver did well to deny Mitchell Woakes as real opportunities were at a premium at either end.
We dominated the opening 20 minutes of the second period and our efforts were rewarded as Sam Mantom fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
Buoyed by the goal, we almost went in front when Mantom turned provider as he slipped in Alex Cameron who broke through only for Kieran Fenton to recover with a timely challenge just as he was about to pull the trigger.
Our hosts went close towards the end when a chance opened up for Connor Dixon inside the area but he fired just over.
We managed to see the rest of the game out to bring a deserved point back home with us.

Must say we played quite well against a play off contender and we could have nicked it , so overall quite happy. Another reason i am quite happy  is that yet again we have quite a few  changes with players coming in and out but thats been a story of our season really .
