Re: Nantwich v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Half time  0-1 . Ilkeston did well defending against a fierce wind but undone by a contentious decision. The Ref came over to check with the linesman but didn't over rule him.

Re: Nantwich v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Nantwich continue on the front foot. Free kick for Ilkeston in good position. Dwyer forces keeper to push his shot round the post. Then Jaylon has shot deflected wide.  Penalty to Nantwich. Couldn't see a foul committed. Goal !  It's 0-2 after two contention decisions have favoured Nantwich.

Re: Nantwich v Ilkeston - Live Updates

After match thoughts:
Ilkeston's first blow was that of keeper Jamie Hannis having to withdraw before the game, Apparently Jamie was carrying a slight thigh strain but he realised in the warm up that it had become much worse. Goalkeeper coach Kieran Tonge who was originally named as a substitute took his place.
Ilkeston were forced back most of the time but Anthony Dwyer was causing the Nantwich defence a few problems. Nantwich were becoming frustrated  as they were being kept at bay by Ilkeston's defence. Then just before half time the Dabbers made the break through. The majority of people in the ground were astonished when Stephen Jones, who looked well offside, was allowed to go on and shoot past Tonge. In fairness to the referee, who must have had his doubts, he did go over and consult with the linesman but he accepted his assistant's decision.
Five minutes into the second half Nantwich were awarded a penalty from which Ryan Brooke scored. There didn't appear to be an appeal for a penalty but the referee said after the game that a Nantwich player was tripped.  The dangerous Osebi Abadaki added a third on 59 minutes when he cut in from the left and his shot beat Kieran Tonge. Ilkeston pushed forward more in the second half but found the impressive Nantwich keeper Dan Gyollai equal to their efforts. Certainly Nantwich deserved to win but their break through goal came following a decision which many thought was incorrect..
