Re: Only three weeks to go......

Have we started pre season training yet! Gets earlier every year when you get on and the Ashes have not started yet!

We still have barely enough players to form a team so I wonder what the plan is. It's been said that we'll be looking at trialists and hopefully we can pick up a few good players on loan.  We need at least another six players. I'm sure that Jamie Ward is working desperately hard trying to get the players he wants and it's quite possible that he is very close to increasing his squad. It's just frustrating for us fans when we see other clubs making regular signings when we have such a small number of confirmed players.

When the fixtures come out, our bank holiday matches are likey to be against Basford and Matlock (or possibly Worksop)

Re: Only three weeks to go......

trialists are good in theory but how many do clubs actually take on. Yes i know you have to give them a go BUT if we are going to be depending to pick a few up well thats a big chance we are taking .
I think we will going for the full quota of how many we can have . (what is the full quota ?) . Especially how Nally put on facebook that we have a good friendship with other clubs . So yes loanees will the way but i have said before they can be called back within a very short notice. Personally i was hoping for at least a big forward ......

I'm guessing that Jamie Ward has agreed a few loan deals which can't be announced in advance. All will be fine come the start of the season.

For the last 3 seasons our opening league game has been away so maybe we will open the 2023-24 season with a home game.

First league match of season:
2022-23   06 Aug 22   Tamworth      (A)   draw 1-1
2021-22   16 Aug 21   Stamford       (A)   won  3-1
2020-21   19 Sep 20   Cleethorpes  (A)   won  3-2
2019-20   18 Aug 19   Cleethorpes  (H)   draw 0-0
2018-19   04 Aug 18   Stourport       (H)   won  3-2

Re: Only three weeks to go......

.
It was confirmed at the Northern PremierLeague AGM today that the 2023-24 fixtures will be published mid July.
Also of interest: it was said the number of teams in the four divisions of the league will increase to 88 teams commencing season 2024-25. It will then be considered whether to extend the playing season from 37 weeks to 40 weeks (with the cost implications) or increase the number of night matches. Clubs to be consulted.
it was also mentioned that dugout discipline was becoming an issue. (no names were mentioned)
Any postponed matches have to be rearranged within 7 days and played within 6 weeks. If the two clubs can't agree a date mutually, the league will decide.

All 99 clubs are in, the AGM is underway.   11:31 am · 17 Jun 2023
