Looking at some of next seasons opponents :
It’s interesting that last season 3 of the teams we will play against this coming season won more away matches than home matches.
Gainsborough Trinity had the best away record , even better than the promoted teams. Their away record was: Won 11, Drawn 6, Lost 4.
FC United with their big away following won 11 away games compared to only 8 at home games. Their away record was: Won 11, Drawn 1, Lost 9.
Marske United who finished 16th just avoiding relegation, won 8 times away and 7 times at home.
The teams with the most home wins were Bamber Bridge and Warrington Rylands:
Bamber Bridge finished 3rd and only lost twice at home. Won 14, Drawn 5, Lost 2.
Warrington Rylands who finished 10th, won 11 home games, drew 3 and lost 7.
Gainsborough Trinity finished with last season with the most goals scored, 74, and with our new keeper Matt Yates in goal, they conceded only 41 goals in 42 matches.
Gainsborough and Radcliffe drew the most games, 15 each.
Last season 68 points were needed to get into the playoffs and 47 points were needed to avoid relegation.
Two of the clubs promoted the previous season, Belper and Liversedge, were relegated. The Northern Premier League Premier Division is a tough league.

The New teams
Ilkeston Town is one of six new teams going into the NPL Premier Division.
Relegated from the National League, Bradford Park Avenue will be keen to bounce back straight away.
The three promoted teams Macclesfield, Worksop and Workington all look capable of establishing themselves at Step 3 level.
Worksop won the NPL East Division by a massive distance scoring 31 points more than 2nd placed Stockton.
Macclesfield won the NPL West Division by 14 points and are the best supported club in the Northern Premier League with an average home attendance of 3674 last season.
I expect the above four to be top half of the table.
Ilkeston and Basford were laterally moved from the Southern League.
Basford finished 15th in the Southern League but were previously in this league so they have a good idea of what to expect. Consequently they have signed many new players to strengthen their squad.
Ilkeston finished 7th last season but will expect a tougher time in this league. Ilkeston’s squad isn’t yet known so it’s difficult to predict whereabouts they may be in the league.
