To try and get more spectators through the gate, Boreham Wood are moving their midweek fixtures to Wednesdays. It means they’ll get fewer fixture clashes with neighbouring teams, other teams that their fans support, in their case, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham, and so on. So fans could go and watch Spurs, for example, on a Tuesday, and then go watch Boreham Wood on a Wednesday. I wonder if it’s something Ilkeston might want to consider – Derby, Forest, Notts County fans could go and watch that team on a Tuesday and come and watch Ilkeston on a Wednesday.
Boreham Wood announce positive move for all with hope of increasing average attendance - Fan Banter
I think teams, perhaps especially non-league teams, are going to have to be more and more innovative in trying to get fans through the turnstiles in these increasingly difficult times.

I always believed it interfered with Tuesday and Thursday night training regimes most non league teams use. We used to play Monday night for a while but then players were offering carrying knocks after Saturday. I personally think the best way of improving the crowds is to get more people involved as volunteers. If they have a good experience they invite their friends to the same and eventually snowballs. The club must however back this up with a persistent social media campaign. The charity football matches is a start and it might be worth trying to encourage greater use of the clubhouse in the week. This might already happen but does anybody hear about it? At Alnwick Town the club have a fantastic clubhouse next to their 4G pitch but it appears to be run by the juniors as a separate entity. It is half a mile from the first teams facilities and finding out whether the bar is open is a nightmare! Communication is the key!
