Ilkeston town v Radford (Pre-season Friendly) 1st July 20 23

I can't recognise many of the players yet so there's not going to be much detail in the updates. But here we go - it will get better. 5 minutes to kickoff.

Re: Ilkeston town v Radford (Pre-season Friendly) 1st July 20 23

Radford are wearing light blue shirts and black shorts and they're on the pitch early.

Ilkeston are out now.  Two Errat-Thompsons are starting for Ilkeston. (Dec and his brother). Ilkeston start by attacking the car park end.

We're off ....

Re: Ilkeston town v Radford (Pre-season Friendly) 1st July 20 23

Half chance for Leroy but two defenders deny him an opportunity. Radford's No. 11 is very fast.  10 mins gone no score.

Re: Ilkeston town v Radford (Pre-season Friendly) 1st July 20 23

Ilkeston's no.5  is doing well defending and passing.   (Eli Christie - trialist)
Nathan Tyson (11) puts Ilkeston ahead on 20 mins.   1-0

Re: Ilkeston town v Radford (Pre-season Friendly) 1st July 20 23

The team is on Twitter. Well half of it! Twitter wants a password to see the rest!! God I can’t remember that! I do get the impression though that Nathan Tyson is playing. What is the combined age of the attack?

Ilkeston free kick just outside of area.  Keeper saves. Ilkeston starting to dominate now after Radford's bright start.        1-0       35 mins

Mistake by Radford keeper gives Lita a chance but his effort goes by the far post.
2nd Ilkeston goal by Fenton on 44mins

Half time   2-0

We're expecting Hurst, Woodward, Zottos Tolley, coming on for the second half and maybe coach Lee Williamson and manager Jamie Ward.

Ward has livened things up. He finds Hurst charging forward but Hurst'spowerful  shot flies over the bar.

Good strong header from Ilkeston No 4 is only just too high.

Good save by Radford keeper at expense of a corner.

Full Time :    Ilkeston 2  Radford  1

Nothing too exciting but okay for a first pre-season friendly.

Re: Ilkeston town v Radford (Pre-season Friendly) 1st July 20 23

.
The standout trialist for me was Ilkeston's first half Number 5, Eli Christie who previously played for Derby County under 18s.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eli-christie/leistungsdaten/spieler/732118

I'm thinking that the first 4 friendlies will be about deciding which players Jamie Ward will keep. By the 5th friendly against Scunthorpe we should have a good idea of our likely squad.
The four friendlies after Scunthorpe against Belper, Mickleover, Derby and Burton will be much more competitive and give us a better idea of how competitive we will be in the season proper.

A great run out for the lads. No standout players but the best standout was the 384 which turned up.
