MATCHDAY
We make the short journey to @eastwoodcfc for our third friendly pre-season. #OneTownOneClub

I love away matches and I'm really looking forward to seeing our great away support at Eastwood.
Pre-season friendlies get better with each game and today should be a cracker.

It's approaching 2 30 and we're at the ground early. The players are warming up in the drizzle.
Quite a few Ilkeston fans are here already.

Good save by Yates from eastwood no. 7 But ilkeston are having most of the early possession. Eastwood free header from a corner goes over the bar.       0-0     9 mins

Brave claim by Yates at the feet of an Eastwood forward. Eastwood's lively No 11 causing problems.

Good possession by Ilkeston but it's all sideways.  Good first time effort by Lita is well held by keeper. Yates rescues Ilkeston following Eastwood breakaway.     1-0       28  mins

ilkeston's No 4 makes a great tackle. Ilkeston are having more possession but Eastwoood look more dangerous and they equalise        1-1     36 mins

Ilkeston's solid  No 4 looks a keeper. Ilkeston No 7 does well but his cross fails to find a colleague.    1-1      41 mins

Ilkeston 11 cuts in and his prod towards goal hits the post.  Decent save by Yates as play swings from end to end now.     1-1     57 mins

Errat-Thomson runs half length of pitch with ball before offside flag halts play.  It's much more open this half.     1-1      65 mins

Eastwood shot is just too high.   Wilder finds Lita but offside flag is raised to end a promising situation.     1-1    70 mins

Re: Sat 8 July : Eastwood v Ilkeston : Ko 3pm

I havent been to a pre season friendly BUT having loads of trialists al pre o season doesn't mean you have a team ready for the actual season. Yes we need these trialists BUT. To me we won't be hitting the ground running at the first game of the season . But hay what do I know .
And what's this about Ward being sent off . Really this is a bloody joke now .

The trialists may get a final chance against Belper United on Tuesday then I think Ward will decide who he wants to keep. So when we play against Scunthorpe on Saturday we should have a better idea of our squad. I certainly hope so otherwise we may be in for a difficult afternoon. Two or three of the trialists have looked decent in my opinion.

Re Ward's dismissal ; I don't know what it was for But I assume it was for comments to the ref following the non-award of a penalty. It did look like a penalty but it's no good complaining. Refs rarely change their mind once they've made a decision.
