Predictions might change nearer the season but the top end is dead competitive. I’m definitely not ruling Guiseley out by any means I think they could easily get top 5, great squad assembled there. About 10 teams I’d say will be fighting for those play off spots all season.
I'm starting to feel nervous about our chances of holding our own in this league. We need to know what sort of squad we have.

Radcliffe fc are tipped to do well this season after bringing in some good players.
Not sure what match day admission prices are but season tickets seem very cheap. (Nearly as cheap as Basford)
Adult £158 (21 matches = £7.53 per match)
Concession £110 (21 matches = £5.24 per match

This is Leo Fraser-Ball's prediction of how the Southern League Premier Central will pan out. Interesting that he has Long Eaton just avoiding relegation and Halesowen and Stamford just above them.
So its this time of the year. early predictions, definitely going to hurt a couple of fans from a certain side. i believe this is our year. let's go

The very knowledgeable Donald Orchard has predicted as follows:
Macclesfield, Matlock, Marine, Hyde and Bamber Bridge top 5.
I think Macclesfield will win it.
Ilkeston mid table.
Relegation for Atherton, Basford, Marske and Bradford Park Avenue.

It's generally acknowledged that the NPL Premier Division is a tight league.
Last season just 22 points was the difference between relegation and a playoff place. Nantwich were relegated with 46 points and 68 points got Matlock into the playoffs.
That's quite a small difference so if the coming season is similar, and it probably will be, then every point is vital.
By comparison, the difference between relegation and the playoffs in the Southern League Premier Central last season was 34 points. Rushall made the playoffs with 73 points and Kings Langley were relegated with 39 points.

After watching the opening four friendlies I'm not feeling over optimistic.
As we are still unsure of the strength of our squad our immediate target should be 50 points which would almost certainly be enough to avoid relegation.
If we can win 10 of our 21 home games and 6 of our 21 away games that's 48 points and we're almost safe. Easier said than done of course.
I have a feeling it's going to be a hard season as Belper found out last season when they won only 7 matches and finished bottom with 30 points.
It’s important that we get off to decent start so I hope we avoid the strongest teams in the opening fixtures. Last season we had too many drawn games, 13 in total. Wins will get us up the table, draws will hold us back.

At this moment in time, I am expecting a tough first season in the NPL. There are some very good sides in this league and the ones that aren't so good will be fighting for every point to avoid the drop.
Our three opening matches are all against teams that I have predicted to be bottom half of the table. Therefore we have a chance to start well. Marske United only just avoided relegation last season and are likely to be in a relegation battle again this season. So the result of that match will be an early indicator of the season ahead for us.
Our next two matches against Gainsborough and Workington are at home. We must pick up as many points as possible from our home matches if we are to achieve mid table status.
Our loyal away supporters may prove to be vital in helping the team pick up points on the road in the season ahead. There are some long journeys but away support is as strong as ever

Personally i think we will struggle this season . I havent seen us play yet but having a look at our team i think we will get bullied too much in midfield with our young lads . I do think we need a good solid player in the middle , i am not saying i guys wont battle but ........ but then again what do i know . Really hope that the guys prove me wrong .

I'm expecting a really tight league which is why every point is important. If we make a decent start, hopefully we should stay clear of the drop zone. The season proper is very different to pre-season. We have a very good coaching setup which is going to help. Jamie Ward is ambitious and he will want to prove that he can manage at a higher level and the only way that can be done is by his team being successful.
At the Belper match we had four Scunthorpe and ex-Scunthorpe players. Not sure how long the loans will be for. Jamie managed to pickup some good loan players last season through his contacts so if that continues we should be okay if we pick up injuries. Forest got promoted with loan players so let us hope we can achieve mid table with a few loan players.
