As the disastrous season limped to a close on Saturday against Ashton United I could not help feeling that this was the end of football as we know it in Ilkeston!
The silence coming from the power that be at Ilkeston is deafening! You could say that at least he has been consistent. This is a politer view than most Ilkeston fans hold.
Surely the person with the future of Ilkeston Football Club in his hands must now try to claw back some dignity by getting the best outcome for football in Ilkeston! There has been a lot of water flowing under the bridge so to speak in the last two years and it is to be seen whether those bridges can be mended!
Perhaps the fact that people have fallen out over the events of the last two years is probably more depressing than the actual future of a football club. There are wounds that will take some time to heal and perhaps they might heal quicker without a football club to get in the way!
Whatever happens in the next few weeks no doubt it won't be the same and certainly won't be boring!

This season has seen a massive division of supporters into two opposing camps. The two sides have become so entrenched that supporters of the same team now distrust each others motives. At this moment the future is unclear but we can only hope that we have a football team to support next season.
