Re: Ilkeston v Derby County Xl : Fri 28 July : Ko 745pm

.
Jamie Ward will be desperate for a decent team performance as the season proper draws nearer. There's only one more pre-season friendly after this one which is against Burton Albion on 5th August.
Apparently Henri Wilder's injury is not serious and he could play tonight.
There was optimism after the Belper match. There was despair after the Mickleover match. Let's be positive, optimism could return after tonight's match.

We are Ilkeston Town  - Keep supporting!

The teams are out. Ilkeston in usual red and white. Derby are in all black. The officials are in lime green tops and black shorts.
Ilkeston start the game attacking the car park end.

we're off...

Tolley 's volley is so close. Then Derby hit back. At the other end Fenton's effort is too high.      2-0     37 mins

Re: Ilkeston v Derby County Xl : Fri 28 July : Ko 745pm

Derby are giving away a lot of free kicks. Dale's free kick flies across goal but no one could connect.
Good save by Yates.  The rest of Ilkeston subs including Harvey Woodward take the field. Woakes does well but his cross is headed over.    Goal for Derby       2-3        80 mins

Ilkeston No 14 makes a great run  but his cross is cut out. Great Derby move but the angle of post and crossbar saves Ilkeston.     2-3    85 mins

Re: Ilkeston v Derby County Xl : Fri 28 July : Ko 745pm

All five of Derby's goals came in the final minutes of each half.

Apart from those two periods, Ilkeston gave a good account of themselves and the scoreline was not a true reflection of the team's performance. They played much better than they did against Mickleover.

.
The mood after the game yesterday was forget the result, the effort and performance were much better. Of course, the mood could have been influenced by the pre match announcement of a managerial change. When things feel not quite right, invariably it is the manager who pays the price.
