Ilkeston Football Club have received another massive setback today as the Evo Stik Northern Premier League have withdrawn the club licence to play in the league! It now means that even if the proposed takeover does go ahead and the appeal against the winding up order is successful the club will not have a league to play in!
This must be the final nail in the coffin of Ilkeston FC and the only hope of watching football at the NMG next season seems to be with the supporters led Ilkeston United Community Football Club or Aston United!
The IUCFC initiative will need fans to forget past differences and band together to provide the volunteer workforce needed to run a football club at the appropriate step. If they can get up and running for the new season it will probably be in the Central Midlands League or the Notts Senior League. If not the club could function in the Midland Regional Alliance.
Football supporters are fortunate to have people in Ilkeston who are determined to make this happen! However they will need help from the supporters.
The last two years at Ilkeston FC have been very frustrating for all involved and as a result there have been strains on many friendships! Hopefully a new club will mean a new start for everyone!

The latest twist in the saga of Ilkeston Football Club centres around the Chairman of Notts County Alan Hardy who has stated he will buy the club despite it being wound up on Monday and despite it being thrown out of the EvoStik League on Tuesday and despite it being in the middle of a takeover by All Eight Management who are owned by a FIFA agent Clem Leech from South Africa and a Spanish gentleman!!
At the same time the supporters are ready to roll with their own club Ilkeston United Community Football Club!
Whether we should build up our hopes of a new dawn is difficult to predict! However after the embarrassingly difficult last seasons it's nice to see perhaps a silver lining!
