Basford United FC @Basfordutdfc
Always one for the diaries, so we're letting you know nice and early... It's the A610 derby next Saturday (16 September) when @ilkestontown_fc make the short trip to Greenwich Avenue!

Saturday's match against Basford gives us the chance to see two of our former players Remaye Campbell and Jack Thomas. Since their moves at the start of the season Remaye has made 7 starts but has yet to score while Jack Thomas has made 6 starts, scored two goals and picked up 3 yellow cards.

How many of the 900 plus Ilkeston fans who watched the Worksop match will make the short journey to Greenwich Avenue? It's an easy journey and they have a decent size car park. It would be good if we could make it feel like a home game. There will be plenty of room as Basford's average gate is less than 300.
Basford are currently bottom of the league and haven't had a win yet so they will be desperate to come out on top as they did last season. Ian Deakin will also be keen to win after defeat in his first match against Worksop. The fierce rivalry between the two clubs ensures that it will be a feisty game full of commitment.
Basford have drawn two of their three home games so far and lost one. They drew 2-2 with Morpeth Town in their first match, then lost 2-1 to Stafford Rangers before drawing 1-1 with Atherton Collieries.
Ilkeston go into the game after three consecutive away defeats. A 1-0 defeat at FC United, was followed by 4-1 loss at Bradford Park Avenue and 3-0 reverse at Mickleover. So both teams go into this fixture with much to prove.

Basford’s last home win was five months ago on Easter Monday 10 April (last season in the Southern League Premier League Central) when they beat Ilkeston 2-1.
But Basford got the better of Ilkeston last season with that 2-1 win at Greenwich Avenue and a 1-1 draw at the NMG.

I think Basford v Ilkeston is going to be a titanic battle with both teams desperate to come out on top.
I make it that we currently have 22 players (Hope I haven’t missed anyone)
Until we’ve seen some of the new players in action, it’s really difficult to pick a best starting eleven. But here’s my attempt at a team to play Basford. Maybe it’s top heavy defensively but we could have attacking options on the bench.
My team to play Basford:
1 Matthew Yates goalkeeper
2 Sam Parker full back
3 Henri Wilder full back
4 Cieron Keane central midfield
5. James Perch central defence
6. Kieran Fenton central defence
7. L’Varn Brandy attacking wide player
8. Declan Eratt-Thompson midfield
9. Zak Goodson forward
10. Connor Dixon midfield
11 Jamie Walker attacking wide player
12. Jordan Hallam forward
13 Tyrell Waite forward
14. Luke Cox central defence
15. Ethan Hill midfield
16 Declan Howe forward
17 Nathan Tyson forward
18 Harvey Woodward goalkeeper
19. Jamie Hanson defensive midfield
20. Kobe Eratt-Thompson. midfield
21. Taylor Anderson (injured). full back
22. Jakub Kruszyński (injured) winger

Tomorrow is match day. It's a big one and it's sure to be a cracker. Ian Deakin is looking for his first win and Basford are looking for their first win. We're expecting around two hundred Ilkeston fans to make the journey down the A610 to Greenwich Avenue.Basford.
NG6 0LD is the post code for your sat nav. The ground is only 7 miles from Ilkeston.
Directions From M1 Junction 26:
Follow the A610 to Nottingham for 1.3 miles, passing over one roundabout. Turn left at the second roundabout onto Cinderhill Road, following the sign post to Bulwell.
After a quarter of mile, turn right into Bagnall Road and, after a further half-mile, turn left into Greenwich Avenue and the entrance to the ground is straight ahead.
Come and support owner Andy Nally's new look ilkeston Town Football Club.. Since Andy took over he has done so much to improve all aspects of the club and most importantly it's now felt that with the newly appointed management team of Ian Deakin, Craig Swinscoe, Adam Campbell and Ben Hutchinson, success on the field is just around the corner.
Adam Campbell, Craig Swinscoe, Ian Deakin, Ben Hutchinson

Saturday 16th September is FA Cup Second Qualifying Round day. Basford and Ilkeston both made an early exit in the previous round so are able to play against each other in the only Northern Premier League Premier Division match being played today. An Ilkeston win by any score would lift them to 7th in the league table. A Basford win or draw would lift them off the bottom spot.

Dixon then Waite get a ticking off by the ref for complaining about decisions. Now it's Walkers turn. You're not allowed the question the refs decisions. Big chance for Waite with just keeper to beat but Preston saves at expense of a corner. Corner comes over and two Ilkeston players are floored but nothing given. 0-0. 26 mins

Great close range save by Preston denies Dixon. Dyer caught offside. It's a more open game now. Wakefield through ball nearly finds Dyer but Yates gets there first. 0-0. 35 mins
