Re: Underwood Villa v Ilkeston Town UPDATES

Final score Underwood Villa 0 Ilkeston Town 4
An emotional game tonight as Ilkeston Town started their journey hopefully back up the pyramid. With no team sheets fans could only guess at the names of their new heroes. However there was a familiar face in the centre of defence with Ian Robinson marshalling the defence. Ilkeston started hesitantly but it soon became apparent that they were. Going to too strong for their opponents Underwood Villa. The Robins were a bit sharper in the tackle and their passing was that bit crisper. It was no surprise when Town took the lead after 20 minutes and added a second just before the break despite having a number of efforts disallowed! In the second half Ilkestons superior fitness started to show and they added two more goals one just after half time  and another just before the end.
A comprehensive 4-0 win which considering the time the team has had together was very encouraging! Their were some very good performances Ian Robinson showed his experience and was calm and collected throughout. The blond striker looked sharp and should be a handful at this level. The lad who played deep in midfield bossed things in the second half and the left back looked to have poise and ability. Ian Deakin was on the sidelines as he is suspended but his back room team included ex Robin Craig Swinscoe!
In the end it was not about the score even if I swore they had scored one more it was about Ilkeston Town being back in the game! It was great to see faces that we had not seen for years and it was great to see smiles back on the faces of Ilkeston fans! So a very encouraging start and a memorable evening! Onwards and upwards!
