Free kick ilkeston wide right. Hyde counter and score 0-2 two attacks , two goals. 57 mins
To be fair this was a scorcher from Redshaw into the roof of the net.
Rather ironic that Ilkeston started the second half with more urgency and then concede two quick goals.

I can't remember us ever being so outplayed. We were second best all over the pitch. We constantly misplaced our passes and I can only remember their keeper having to make one save. We did battle to get the ball but when we won it, we always seemed to give it straight back to them with a poor pass. We just couldn't keep hold of the ball. Up front we failed to produce any goal threat resulting in supporters at the match questioning why our top scorer was playing left back.

Our defeat at Hyde was not too damaging as five of the teams above us also dropped points.
Marine, Macclesfield and Morpeth also lost and Warrington and Ashton only drew.
Radcliffe and Worksop consolidated their positions.
Atherton Collieries pulled off the result of the night with a great win at FC United to move off the bottom .
Marske also won to climb out of the relegaton positions.
Losers Basford are now two points adrift in the bottom spot.

You can’t sugarcoat that one, just awful. We were lucky to get nil. Barely a shot on goal in the whole game. Their goalkeeper could have kept his work clothes on and they wouldn’t have got dirty.
Frank Worthington once said that some players second touch is a sliding tackle, well that applied to quite a few of our players last night. After a first touch the ball was 5 yards away from them.
So many passes, under no pressure, where we simply passed the ball to the opposition. Part of the problem there must be that we’re playing a different line-up in each game, players are not getting that familiarity of playing with the same players in the same positions. Surely at some point you have to settle on your best side and stick with it for a while?
Our midfield and attack were practically non-existent. Henri Wilder is a good footballer, but he just looked lost in midfield last night. It all happened way too quickly for him. I’m sorry, but Tyrell Waite and Zak Goodson were so poor. I have no idea what’s happened to Zak.
For me, the midfield is the root of our problems. We just haven’t got a midfield that can get control of a game, not surprising perhaps when you see that’s it’s Hanson, Starkie, and Hallam against Radcliffe, or Eratt-Thompson, Wilder, and Laughlan against Hyde (as you can see a completely different midfield in the 2 games).
Some very strange selections you have to say. Dec, our best midfield player at right-back against Radcliffe; Jamie Walker, seemingly the only goalscorer we’ve got, at left-back last night. What’s Luke Cox got to do to get another game?
Last night we were given the runaround by a bunch of fit, athletic young kids. Maybe we’re just not as good as we think we are. Because it was after the season started was Ian Deakin limited in the players he could bring in? Do we have to face the fact that some of the players he brought in from Long Eaton are just not good enough at this level?
I know Ian Deakin said it would be a bumpy ride and I think we’re all prepared for that and I think we’ll all show patience, but jeez, that was a tough watch last night.

Ian Deakin's thoughts. Not a happy man, as you might imagine. And then the lights went out ... reminded me of that old joke -
There was a time when I couldn't afford to pay my electric bill. Those were the darkest days of my life.
I'll get me coat.

We’ve not scored in our last two matches and I for one am wondering if we were too quick to show the door to Declan Howe. He has now scored five in five matches for a struggling Gainsborough team. Compare this with Tyrell Waite, no goals in five matches and Zak Goodson one goal in six matches..

Northern Premier League
Hyde United 2 Ilkeston Town 0
Two goals in four second half minutes gave Hyde a deserved win in a game they pretty much dominated from start to finish For Ilkeston this was a third consecutive defeat and a much below par performance.
L’Varn Brandy had an early chance for Ilkeston which Sam Waller was able to hold on to. Hyde’s trickyy winger Antoine Makoli then made himself an opportunity after breaking into the area but put his effort the wrong side of the post. On 17 minutes Matt Yates denied Harry Bunn from close range as Hyde started to get on top. A good move from the hosts then saw Lewis Alessandra fire wide from the edge of the box. A minute later the same player had the ball in the net but Ilkeston were saved by a late offside flag. Brandy then had a chance to put Ilkeston ahead but he blazed over. Just before half time Hyde were close again when Bunn burst forward at pace but Yates made an excellent save. The interval arrived with Ilkeston lucky not to be behind.
After a poor first half showing Ilkeston started the second half with more purpose but on 55 minutes they fell behind when Makoli’s cross was turned in at close range by Alessandra. Before Ilkeston could recover it was 2-0 through Jack Redshaw who charged forward and hit a superb dipping shot into the roof of the net. Manager, Ian Deakin made three substitutions in an effort to get back into the game but to no avail as Hyde comfortably saw out the rest of the game. Oncoming Ben Starkie was closest to reducing the arrears with a decent attempt which flashed by the post.
