All being well there will be live updates of Tuesday evenings league match at Stafford here on Whiteball. Ilkeston will be hoping to build on Saturday's performance and three points. Stafford won their first game against Coventry Alvis but since then have suffered three consecutive defeats against Hinckley AFC, Chelmsley Town and Studley. Both sides will be desperate for a result.

Here's hoping that I can get hold of a team sheet. If not I'll do my best without one.

Welcome to Evans Park, home of Stafford Town FC. Nice Stand overlooking the artificial pitch. It's a nice view except for having to look through mesh to see the pitch. 50 minutes to kickoff.

Stafford are playing in red shirts and red shorts. Ilkeston are wearing white shirts and white shorts. Floodlights are on and the teams are out. Stafford to kick off and we're off.

It's finished in defeat and a harsh lesson for Ilkeston - It's goals that count. Defeat is especially disappointing when you know that you should have won. Ilkeston enjoyed a good three quarters of possession and had numerous scoring opportunities but failed to take them. Ignoring the result, it was a pleasing on the eye display with some excellent team passing. However the result is all important and when you don't take your chances, more often than not, you lose. Stafford defended well but Ilkeston were guilty of not being clinical.
Result : Stafford Town 2 Ilkeston Town 1

Stafford will be thinking "What a brilliant win" They only created a few chances, but they took two of them and very nearly got a third when they hit a post and the ball rebounded into Curtis Hall's arms. Ilkeston played well but let themselves down with poor finishing. I thought Ilkeston were unlucky not to get a penalty when Alex Marshall was brought down in the area but the referee disagreed. Montel Gibson had an excellent opportunity when put through with just the keeper to beat but he put his shot wide. It was just one of those games when the ball wouldn't go in. It wasn't for lack of trying.
