    NPL matches today (Sat 30th Dec 2023)

    NPL Matches today 

    Basford, FC United, Marske and Matlock have switched their New Years Day matches to today. 
    1pm kickoff :  Basford v Marine
    3pm kickoff :  FC United v Radcliffe
    3pm kickoff :  Marske v Morpeth
    3pm kickoff :  Matlock v Stafford 

    Wins for FC United or Morpeth would mean Ilkeston end 2023 in the bottom half of the table
    A win for Marine would lift them to 3rd.
    A win for Matlock would put them one point off a playoff position.

    Enjoyable game, Basford v Marine. Quite a few Marine fans there, swelling the crowd to around 500. Deaks and Andy Nally were in attendance.  Fenton, Wilder, Thomas, Campbell, and Tyson started for Basford. Fenton scored with a free-kick from just outside the box (no surprise there), and Tyson got the other, rounding off a well-worked move. Some lovely touches from Wilder at left-back, and that touch of class every now and then from Tyson. No real regrets for me about Wilder, Fenton, Thomas, and Campbell going, but I wish Tyson was still with us.

    We play against Basford at the NMG n three weeks time on 20th January. There will be a few ex Ilkeston players with a point to prove.
