Matchman returns for Saturday's visit to Ashton. This will be a very difficult game as Ashton are pushing for promotion and are on a good run, whereas we are well and truly struggling after six consecutive league defeats. Our luck has to change sometime though and we have recently done well on this ground. It would be nice to take a point and follow that with a win on Easter Monday against neighbours and relegation threatened Mickleover as I think that would be enough to make us safe. Whilst very sorry to lose Daniel Udoh I think that David Jones will be a natural successor. He's still a raw talent but he has a forward's spirit and desire which should bring us the goals we desperately need.

Nearly a third for Ashton. Lee close to pulling one back but his clever lob goes just wide Another decent chance for Lee but he blasts wide. Good spell by Ilkeston as half time approaches. Ashton keeper booked.
Half time 0-2.

In my opinion Ilkeston are a bit unlucky to be two down but they are facing the wind in the second half so are facing an Ashton onslaught. The players are back out. Second half is underway.

Good start by Ilkeston. Corner won by Atkinson. Good play by Burrows gives Lee chance but keeper saves well. 55 minutes gone still 0-2 but Ilkeston pushing forward.

Unfortunately during the minutes silence before the game, chanting was heard from some of the Ilkeston fans. Maybe they were just coming into the ground and were unaware of the silence but it was disappointing and embarrassing for the supporters who were observing the silence

Lynda - I only said what happened. The Ilkeston officials and supporters in the stand got very disapproving looks from the Ashton officials. Unfortunately the chanting came over very loud in the otherwise silence.

Again John - you know we are better than that - unfortunately going down the street to the turnstyle - we couldn't see through the 20ft or so, wall. Understandably people are upset and annoyed at your comments, you know as well as I, that we participate and respect whatever goes on at other grounds and always have done.
I would suggest, in future (indeed if there is a future) you state facts, before posting words like 'disappointing and embarrassing' in the same sentence as 'our fans'.
