Ilkeston Town stay in 10th place but are two wins below the play offs!
Ex Robin Tyrell Waite scores for Mickleover as they come from behind to beat Barwell 2-1
Offline
Another great team performance but Declan Eratt-Thompson was absolutely superb.

Omg Dec was on fire today what a player . And we have now got a proper forward . No offence Alex but Tom Curzon's is good . Lol

Northern Premier League
Stafford Rangers 0 Ilkeston Town 2
A Tom Cursons brace enabled Ilkeston to record a fourth win on the spin against desperate relegation threatened opponents, Stafford Rangers. Ilkeston dominated the first half but Rangers gave it a real go after half time.
Ilkeston started strongly and Cursons forced Cameron Belford into an early save. Cursons then saw a shot go too high before Jamie Walker saw his effort saved. Sean Cooke replied for Stafford with a volley over the bar then Walker was close again with a shot pushed round the post by Belford. The hosts main threat came from speedy winger Tyreece Onyeka and he created an opportunity for A-Jay Leitch-Smith whose shot was blocked. Declan Eratt-Thompson forced Belford into an excellent diving save at the foot of his post. Then just before half time, Sam Parker’s cross was met by Like Cox whose header was just wide as Ilkeston couldn’t turn their superiority into goals.
Stafford made a much better start to the second half. An Ethan Stewart effort flew over the bar before Ilkeston had a fortunate escape when a close range shot was blocked by Parker and the loose ball was scrambled away. Then on the hour Ilkeston went ahead with a counter attack. Eratt-Thompson carried the ball a long way before releasing Cursons who got his shot past Belford at the second attempt. On 73 minutes Ilkeston survived another goalmouth scramble with some brave defending and a goal line clearance as Stafford pushed for a leveller but on 80 minutes Cursons doubled Ilkeston’s lead. Again it was from a counter attack and the goal ended Stafford’s hopes of rescuing a point. Ilkeston dominated the final stages with Cursons twice going close to completing a hat-trick. Njaria’s header for Rangers was just wide then Walker nearly had the final say with a terrific effort which flew inches wide with Belford beaten.

,
I'm starting to think that this is one of the best teams we've had for a while and they're going to get better.
Such a togetherness and commitment to the cause. Another brilliant defensive performance and now we have a goalscorer in Tom Cursons. We were strong all over the pitch despite being without Connor Dixon. Every player contributed again and this weeks special mention goes to two defenders Tom Marshall and Sam Parker
We have a sterner test next Saturday against 3rd placed Marine. Can we keep this run going?

No wonder Stafford were desperate to take points from their match against us. They don't play again until Saturday 17th Feb. That's 3 weeks without a game and they're in deep trouble at the wrong end of the table.

Scott Holmes Match Report:
NPL Premier Division:
Stafford Rangers 0-2 Ilkeston Town
Attendance-645
Fourth defeat in a row for Stafford Rangers but the result did not reflect our performance it was an equally thought between both sides for the majority of the match. The first chance of the game fell to Ilkeston but the shot went over from Cursons. Cooke had a chance for Rangers the cross came in,he chested it down and the volley went over the bar. Leitch Smith had a shot but was blocked in the box by Ilkeston’s defence. Declan Eratt-Thomas had a shot from around 30 yards out and Belford made the save. Stafford went into half time without conceding which meant they had a chance of getting something out of the game. Stewart had a shot but it went straight over the bar. There was some great play from Heath he got his shot off with Yates making the save,it then fell to Onyeka but the ball went out for a corner. Ilkeston eventually took the lead through Thomas Cursons in the 61st minute, his first shot was saved by Belford but his second attempt beat our goalkeeper. Willis corner was crossed into Stewart at the back post falling to Lee but went out for another corner. Ilkeston made it 2-0 in the 80th minute through Cursons his second goal of the match finding himself inside the area with space and slot the ball past Belford. Cursons could have made it a hatrick but his shot went just wide. Williams had a corner but Njaria headed the ball narrowly wide I thought it went in. Stafford unfortunately lost 2-0 to Ilkeston despite us being in the game for the majority of it. If we would have scored first then it would have been a different result but when we concede first we are always up against it and go onto lose. Fair play to Ilkeston yesterday great set of fans and they made some great noise, apart from the one that got kicked out he certainly did not represent the rest of their genuine fans. No game for Rangers now until 17th February away at Hyde United definitely need to be working our very hardest on our two free Saturday’s running up to this game against a team that are unbeaten in their last 11 games

really good of him to mention about the majority of the fans being a great set. Yes he did mention the one fan but didn't represent the majority.

Yeh, nice to read that ...

I think you're always a bit concerned when one of your number gets kicked out the ground for saying something he shouldn't have said that it might tarnish the image of the fantastic Ilkeston fans. What noise they made, particularly in the second half. Brilliant support.
