Another season over

.
Apart from the playoffs, another season comes to an end. It’s been a season of many changes for the team that is part of our lives. We were moved from the Southern League Premier Central to the more competitive Northern Premier and at the start of the season our prospects were very uncertain. Jamie Ward left during pre-season and at that point we would have been happy to get through the season ahead without being relegated. Gary Hayward came in and we got off to a flying start but it didn’t last. Ian Deakin then joined us and gradually things got better. After a slow start and many player changes stability returned and results improved. As in every season, there are highs and lows but the general feeling is that progress was made. We finished mid table and with genuine optimism for next season.

Thank you everyone who visited WhiteBall and especially those who have contributed. Stay with us throughout the summer to keep in touch with Ilkeston Town news as it happens and other football related items.  .

Re: Another season over

My player of the season has to be Matt Yates. He has a played in every game and has consistently been truly outstanding.
Best mid season signing has to be Tom Cursons. No one had heard of him when he arrived but he soon became a favourite and a regular scorer.

One who got away
Gary Hayward brought in a striker named Declan Howe. He made 2 starts and 2 substitute appearances for us before we let him go. Declan joined Gainsborough and finished the season as the League’s top scorer with 26 goals
