Burradon & New Fordley v Alnwick Town 11.05.24

Alnwick Town travel to Burradon & New Fordley for their final league game of the season. Despite going on a run of six wins and getting to within one point of league leaders Alnwick's valiant title bid failed at the last hurdle when they lost at Seaton Deleval on Wednesday. Wallington are however worthy winners with striker Jordan Nellis topping the league scoring charts with 39 goals.Ultimately that fact sums up Alnwick's season. There were matches where they dominated teams but could not convert this into goals. A 39 goals a season striker was probably the difference between Wallington and Alnwick.
Alnwick will be looking forward to playing Ponteland United in the League Cup final on Wednesday at the ground of Morpeth Town. Portland have twice beat Alnwick in the league so there will be a feeling proving a point and hopefully retain the trophy they won last year.
