We're back in action this Saturday when we entertain Hallam FC at the NMG in our first pre-season friendly.
Hallam FC play in the North East Counties League Premier Division.
Last season they finished 9th. - P38, W17, D8, L13, F71, A59, Points 59.
Like Ilkeston, their away record was slightly better than their home record. They picked up 31 points on their travels and 28 points at home.

England are playing Switzerland but you are need to watch the last few minutes as we defend and sit back for the rest of the game so little will happen!

Looks like a low turnout for our first pre-season friendly. Just a few from Hallam but they have five flags hanging from the clocktower stand.

Cracking shot by Meikle jusy outside the area is tipped over the bar. Eratt-Thompson shot just too high .

Brandy dribbles past two defenders before being tripped. Brown tripped on edge of area. Now Brown is penalised himself for a trip to stop a Hallam breakaway. Probably should have been a booking but not so.
Ilkeston still well on top in terms of possession but still 0-0 after 20 minutes

Bellingham type effort from Hallam No 5 after free kick into Ilkeston's box but it goes wide. Hallam are doing better now. Brandy's cross is met by Parker but his header is too high. 0-0. 27 mins

Ilkeston have a penalty shout but free kick is given the other way. Trialist No 8 is having a decent game so far. Walker's cross met by Cursons at the near post but ball goes the wrong side of the post.
Half Time. 0-0

At last an Ilkeston effort on goal but its into the side netting from Alex Marshall.

Two saves from Yates prevent Ilkeston going further behind, Hallam looking far more likely to score now,

My opinion:
The first half team was :
1 Yates, 2 Brown, 3 Parker, 4 Dec Eratt-Thompson, 5 Tom Marshall, 6 Perch, 7 Brandy, 8 Trialist, 9 Cursons, 10 Meikle, 11 Walker.
Although the half finished 0-0 this Ilkeston side totally dominated. Trialist No 8 looked very decent in my opinion and is worth another look at. Brandy saw plenty of the ball and showed some great skills. The only disappointment for me was new signing Connor Brown. I'm judging on only 45 minutes play so maybe unfair.
The second half team was:
1 Lievers, 2 Trialist, 4 Trialist, 6 Perch, 7 Carvell, 8 Trialist, 9 Markelic, 12 Minkley, 14 Koby Eratt-Thompson, 16 Cox, 18 Alex Marshall.
My stand out player in the second half was the powerhouse No 4 trialist. The second half team were given a lesson by Hallam who took their chances. No 9 Markelic looked useful up front. The big and strong No 4 had the ball more than anyone else and used it well, definitely worth another look at.

There appears to be a consensus by several supporters that the two trialists number 8 and number 4 were the players to stand out.
When Lindon Meikle signed I thought that completed the squad.
But Starkie left after that so is there a possibility of another signing?
