Strange goings-on at Prescot Cables, one of the teams in our league and a supporter-owned club. They've decided that their initial agreed budget is now not sustainable. First team manager and assistant manager have departed along with some of the players, and looking at the comments on Facebook it's clear that the fans haven't got a scooby what's going on.

For a club with limited resources promotion can be a poisoned chalice. If they were keeping the same players there shouldn't have been a problem but if the management team started to sign up more expensive players then there's a risk of not balancing the books. It sounds to me like the management team were massively over committing on player wages for this to happen.
From the managers point of view, they want a team that is not going to struggle.
I hope they sort themselves out quickly with the season only a few weeks away.

Update from Prescot Cables ...
"We do not accept relegation as an inevitability and we encourage supporters not to either."
Not the most optimistic of outlooks going into a new season.
