Alnwick play their first home game since their promotion to the Northern League when they entertain the beautifully named Bellingham Synthonia at St James Park. The Synners are named after an ICI product called Synthetic Amonia. They had a really successful period in the nineties but there biggest claim to fame in my book is having Brian Clough play for them.
Alnwick will be hoping to register their first goals and first points after their 3-0 defeat on the opening day of the season at Jarrow. Alnwick had six debutants in their line up on Saturday so it might take a while for them to gel.
I won’t be there as I am still ensconced in sunny Donegal doing as little as possible. I watch golf all day as we are staying on a golf course overlooking Lough Swilly.
