There's a hold up for a Hereford player injury. He's coming off and is replaced.

Chance for Hereford but it's over the bar. Rooney booked for time wasting.
It's finished and we exit the Cup. Ilkeston 0 Hereford 1
A valiant effort but Hereford progress to the next round.

I am sorry but we blatantly robed by the ref tonight , not one massive shout for a penalty BUT TWO !!!!! One for hand ball and the one where Curzon got pole axed ... I my opinion they both penalties ....... The team played brilliant tonight ,fully deserved a result the ref thought otherwise .......

We exit with heads held high. For most of the game we were in the ascendancy but we couldn't find the goal we needed. Fair play to Hereford who took one of the few chances that came their way and then defended resolutely.

I've been told I need to take my rose tinned glasses off tonight. I told him to fuck off. Robbed

The referee was kind enough to give us an explanation of his decisions in both incidents
1 When Cursons went down he felt that the no. 9 (Cursons) was looking for contact
2 He said he didn't have a good view of the handball incident so he looked to the linesman and the linesman kept his flag down.

2. Pass the buck onto somebody else. What a joke

Attendance 762 !!!! There was more than that behind the top goal

We lost the match but what a performance by the team. Don't forget we were playing against a team currently 5th in the National League North. We totally dominated the replay and we should have won on Saturday.
One of the Hereford directors said to me after the game that we were as good as many of the teams in their league

FA Cup - 2nd Qualifying Round Replay
Ilkeston Town 0 Hereford 1
Adam Rooney’s first half goal ended Ilkeston’s FA Cup ambitions despite a titanic effort by the Robins in the second half. Ilkeston coach Craig Swinscoe said after the game that he was proud of the players who gave their all. Paul Caddis, the Hereford manager said he was pleased with how his team had defended their lead.
Ilkeston made a positive start which saw Colin Daniel’s early shot clearing the bar. Hereford hit back with a move involving Akheem Rose and Alex Babos which was ended by Ilkeston keeper Owen Mason who grabbed the ball before Babos could pounce. Jamie Walker and Tom Cursons both had shots blocked before Cosmos Matwasa created another Hereford chance after driving forward and finding Lewis Hudson who couldn’t hit the target. Ilkeston were then denied the lead when Aaron Chapman brilliantly saved Tom Marshall’s effort from inside the box following a corner. Next to go close was Daniel whose measured shot was only just too high but on 40 minutes it was Hereford who took the lead. Tate Campbell started the counter attack which was finished emphatically by Adam Rooney with a powerful strike past Mason. Ilkeston responded and Connor Dixon saw his effort just before half time saved by Chapman.
Ilkeston started the second half on the front foot and Hereford survived a penalty appeal two minutes in when Daniel’s cross appeared to hit a defender’s hand. This was followed by three quick Ilkeston corners as Hereford were pinned back. Walker and Dixon both saw decent efforts go wide but Hereford were always a threat on the counter. On 78 minutes Ilkeston had another penalty appeal rejected when Cursons looked to be pulled down in the area. Harvey Kirby-Moore broke free on goal but was flagged offside then L’Varn Brandy was cynically brought down as he raced towards the Hereford box. Marshall lined up the free kick but his effort sailed over bar. Chapman tipped a shot over as Ilkeston made a final effort but there was no way through the Hereford defence and it was the visitors who progressed to the next round.

The Verdict of a neutral :
Personally I didn't think the ref was that bad. Yes we should have had at least one of the two strong penalty shouts and that probably cost us the match but apart from that he did okay. It's not an easy job.
The general rule for penalty claims seems to be : If the ref doesn't see it he can't give it and if he's not absolutely certain, he dosen't give it. Linesmen ought to be more pro-active when they have a better view than the referee.

Why do have bloody linesmen ? He had a clear view of the penalty appeal far better than the ref but didnt bat an eyelid . The ball clearly hit the defenders arm and in doing so re directed the ball away from the penalty area ..... Penno for me . Then there was the " lets climb all over an ilson player the ref wont give ilson owt attitude"
I know its all about if`s and buts , BUT them possible pennos could have cost the club a vital revenue .....
