Academy prospect Casey Johnson has been promoted to the first-team squad ahead of the 2024/25 season!
The 17-year-old midfielder started his footballing journey with The Blues at academy level and has risen through the ranks at Grange Park.
Johnson had an outstanding season with our U21s side, winning the Worksop Van Hire Development League and Cup double in recent weeks.
Commenting on his promotion to the senior squad, first-team manager Brad Munn said: "Casey has epitomised the good work the football club has done with its academy over the last few years and deserves to be promoted into the first-team and be recognised as a first-team player. "With his ability he will only add to the group being created, he has already fitted in quickly when in the first-team changing room this season.
"The young midfielder has featured for the first-team in nine matches already this year and assisted a goal in December's win over Berkhamsted at Grange Park. Acknowledging his rise through the club, Munn said: "He’s had a fantastic year with the academy and featured with ourselves in spells but we feel it’s the right time for him to get his head down and really show what he can become.
"A huge thanks has to go to Curtis and Dutch with his development also and delighted to be able to promote players from within. Well done Casey and let’s look forward to the new season.
”Head of football Development, Paul Holland added: "Casey is what our club is all about. He's an exciting young player who likes a challenge and knows where the net is. He's a product of our academy and a great example to our younger players that the pathway is there if you work hard enough. Everyone at the club is so proud of him.”
