Saturday we host highly rated playoff contenders Guiseley.
Last Saturday they had a big win in the FA Cup against Kidderminster Harriers which puts them into the 1st round proper.
Guiseley are currently 5th in the league (P11, W6, D2, L3, F22, A16, Points 20)
Their away record is: P5 , W3, D0, L2, F9, A9, Points 9
Their away wins were against Bamber 3-2, Whitby 2-1 and Basford 2-0
Their away defeats were against Stockton 1-3 and Macclesfield 1-3.
In the FA Cup they have beaten Ashton Utd (H) 3-0, Northwich (H) 3-0, Sciunthorpe (H) 1-0 and Kidderminster (A) 1-0.
Last season Guiseley won 4-1 at the NMG whilst Ilkeston won 2-1 at Guiseley.

I’ve got a bad feeling about this one, another loss me thinks, hope I’m wrong. We’re too in consistent at the moment.

It seems that way but I do have some sympathy for the team at Workington where the match was affected by the strong wind. We tried to play our passing game but it was difficult. Once we were behind it was going to be hard work because Workington defended in numbers. Even so we made enough chances to have won. Also regarding the disallowed goal by Harvey Kirby-Moore; a lot of people near the incident said that there was no foul on the keeper. That would have given us a point and a draw would have been an easier to take result.
Opinions may differ on why we lost but for me we lost because we failed to take the numerous chances that came our way.

Guiseley's last match:
Guiseley produced one of the upsets of this season’s FA Cup, shocking National League North heavyweights Kidderminster Harriers to reach the first round proper
The Lions, currently fifth in the Northern Premier League, upset higher-level, full-time opposition for the second successive round to set up a potentially meeting with a Football League side in the next round. Guiseley’s feat is even more impressive considering they have yet to concede a goal in this season’s competition. Entering at the first qualifying round stage, they enjoyed 3-0 victories over Ashton United and 1874 Northwich in their first two outings before producing a memorable performance at home to National League North leaders Scunthorpe United in the following round.
Jake Lawlor’s first-half goal was enough to see Guiseley past Scunthorpe in the last round, despite captain Lebrun Mbeka being sent off for two bookable offences midway through the second half.
And the Lions’ memorable cup run continued on Saturday, Will Longbottom scoring the only goal of the game against his former club six minutes from time to confirm their spot in the next round.
“[I’m] really proud,” Guiseley manager Mark Bower told the club’s official channels post-match.
“Performance-wise, we came under a lot of pressure and didn’t play as well as we can do by any stretch of the imagination. "But what the lads did was they dug in and gave everything they had. We’ve got so many injuries and not a lot of options to freshen up and change things when we needed to, but the lads were immense. “In the first half we rode our luck a little bit. While not having anything too clear-cut, they had some decent chances which, on another day, they could’ve taken. “We sorted one or two things out at half-time, and to be fair in the second half, I can’t recall them having anything in front of our goal. “We produced that little bit of quality and got the goal to win it.”
Guiseley were also indebted to goalkeeper Joe Cracknell, who kept out Ashley Hemmings’ first-half penalty with the scores still level. Discussing his heroics after the win, Cracknell said: “It’s amazing, a great feeling. The lads defended absolutely brilliantly today and held on for a great victory. “I’d done a lot of homework [for the penalty], but unfortunately he’s gone 50/50 both ways so it was a case of waiting. “I knew he’d stutter. I trusted my instinct, and thankfully I made the save and held onto the rebound.
”On the prospect of facing Football League opposition in the next round, Cracknell added: “I’ve not given it much thought, to be honest! I’m sure the club would like a big tie.“If we get someone at home, we can give them more than a good game and fancy ourselves to keep going.
Of the four Northern Premier League sides remaining in this season’s FA Cup, only Guiseley were able to book their place in the next round. Macclesfield were beaten 4-2 at National League Tamworth while Gainsborough Trinity and Step 4 side Hednesford Town were held at home by Boston United and Gateshead respectively. Both replays will take place in midweek. The draw for the first round proper will be held on Monday evening at around 7pm, live on BBC Two. League One and Two sides will enter the competition at this stage, with Championship and Premier League teams not involved until the third round.

Guiseley play at Lancaster tonight and after their FA Cup heroics they should be slightly drained by the time they come to the NMG this Saturday. So it may be a good time to be playing against them as we will be desperate to bounce back from a below par performance at Workington.
This will be a real test against one of the strongest teams in our league. It's important that we play well in this match to restore confidence.
It's a tight league with positions changing every week. A win would keep us in close proximity to the playoff positions. A defeat would condemn us to the mid table masses. This is our 6th home league game and It could be our 4th home draw.

Guiseley have certainly enjoyed some good fortune in their last two matches. They got a 97th minute equaliser last night when the Lancaster keeper put the ball into his own goal. Hopefully their luck will have run out when they come to the NMG this Saturday.
Ilkeston are in 6th position after last night's results but there are four other teams on 19 points including Basford who are 10th.
We are unbeaten at home in the league with two wins and three draws but have lost to Hereford and Coleshill in Cup matches. So looking at it another way, we have won only two of our seven competitive matches at the NMG.
These have been our home results
10 Aug Gainsborough draw 2-2
20 Aug. Macclesfield draw 1- 1
24 Aug Bamber Ridge won 2-1
07 Sep. Whitby won 5-1
17 Sep. Hereford lost 0-1
28 Sep. Ashton draw 2-2
05 Oct Coleshill lost 2-3
Not one clean sheet and in the last two matches we've thrown away a two goal lead.

After watching training tonight , I'm much more optimistic of a good result against Guiseley. There was a half hour team talk in the sponsor rooms before physical training began. I don't know what was said but the training that followed was full on. Declan Eratt-Thompson gave it 100% so I'm confident he will be available to play. A fit Declan will really improve our chances of winning the game.

It's MATCHDAY Saturday 19th October : Ilkeston Town v Guiseley
Before the Guiseley match we are 6th having played 12 matches..P12, W5, D4, L3, F23, A17, Pts 19
After 12 matches last season we were 12th in the table..................P12, W5, D1, L6. F21, A18, Pts 16
So we are currently 3 points up on last season.
In our 13th game last season we lost 0-2 at Hyde, so a win today against Guiseley would put us 6 points up on last season.

Brilliant by Meikle to win the ball then a superb pass to Cursons who carried the ball forward before slotting past Cracknall. Excellent goal
