It's nearly time. Hyde are not happy.
FULL TIME and it's a win . Not the best we've played but it's 3 points and we are 4th in the table.

Tue 22nd September 2024
Northern Premier League
Ilkeston Town 3 Hyde United 2
A dramatic added time winner by Tom Cursons gave Ilkeston all three points in a match which could have gone either way. The Robins were twice ahead before being pegged back but in the closing stages it was Hyde who looked the more likely to grab a winner. But with a minute of added time left, Cursons won a corner. Jamie Walker swung it in and Ilkeston's sought after striker forced the ball over the line to the delight of the home supporters.
The first chance of the game fell to Hyde when Jack Redshaw cut inside from the left and his curling effort needed to be pushed round the post by Matt Yates. They then had another chance following a defensive misunderstanding. Ewan Bange seized on the error but his pass to the unmarked Redshaw wasn’t a good one and the opportunity was lost. On 15 minutes Connor Dixon was brought down in the area and Jamie Walker put Ilkeston ahead from the penalty. The lead didn’t last long though and Lewis Thompson’s cross was firmly headed home by Bange to level the score. Cursons found the net for Ilkeston but the offside flag was up. This was followed by a superb volley by Jordan Stevens which was deflected wide and from the corner Tom Marshall’s effort was cleared off the line by Joe Toole.
Ilkeston made a strong start to the second half. Cursons broke free and crossed to Colin Daniel whose shot was blocked. The loose ball fell to L’Varn Brandy and his effort was also blocked. But on 57 minutes Ilkeston were back in front. Lindon Meikle found Colin Daniel who turned brilliantly in the area and squeezed the ball past keeper Callum Hiddleston. With Ilkeston seemingly in control Hyde hit them with a second equaliser. It came from a Redshaw corner headed in by Josh Smith. Two minutes later the ball was in the Ilkeston net again but Redshaw was offside. Either side could win it now and on 84 minutes Yates rescued Ilkeston with a brilliant save tipping over Smith’s goal bound effort. Both teams went for the win and on this occasion fortune favoured Ilkeston with the late Cursons goal sending their supporters home in raptures.

.
Disappointing attendance last night of 354 (half of what we need).
Those that came were rewarded with one of those rare matches that has a last minute Ilkeston winner.
Brilliant to see supporters and players mingling after the game and enjoying the win together.

I wasnt there because of work but do you think some fans stayed away because of the fair and have spent up ?
What with two home games and the fair all within four days was it a bit too much for some families ? I`am saying we would have got 600 odd but just thinking it maybe the reason why the attendance was down a bit .

Yes Kev - By all accounts the fair was very expensive this year so that could have been part of the reason why the gate was down. And night match attendances are always lower than Saturday matches
Just a pity that some supporters missed out on a game with such a dramatic ending.
It was hard to hold back the joy when saying goodbye to the Hyde officials who were less than happy.

Goals from the game. Good skills from Colin Daniel for the goal and the assist.
