A third consecutive away defeat to teams below us in the league shows that we’re nowhere near good enough to make the playoffs. That’s ten goals conceded against Workington, Prescot and Lancaster. All three were winnable games so that's a possible nine points thrown away. Yesterday was a disaster. If it wasn’t for Matt Yates we could easily have conceded six. We have now lost five away matches in the league and to me the only acceptable defeat was against Worksop. The other defeat was against Basford, another club below us.
There was such a difference in the mood of both sets of supporters at full time yesterday. Lancaster supporters thought it was a fantasic game whereas our supporters were totally distraught.
Our inability to put two consecutive wins together continues. How we miss James Perch.

Woeful defending cost Ilkeston dearly at Lancaster where the lead changed hands four times. In a crazy start, there were three goals in the opening six minutes. Tom Cursons gave Ilkeston the lead inside the first minute but five minutes later Lancaster were in front though Aaron Bennett and Lewis Mansell. Both defences looked vulnerable and two scrappy goals finished by George Wilkinson put Ilkeston ahead by 3-2. There was then a great chance for Harvey Kirby-Moore to give Ilkeston a two goal cushion but he chose to pass and the opportunity was lost. Ilkeston were made to pay when Bennett equalised in first half stoppage time with what was by far the best goal of the game.Two minutes into the second half Bennett competed his hat-trick after more poor Ilkeston defending. There was then a period of Lancaster ascendency. A fizzing Mansell effort brought a good save by Matt Yates on 57 minutes then Nic Evangelinos curled a shot just wide. Yates then saved from Dylan Thompson as Lancaster looked to increase their lead. Having weathered this difficult period Ilkeston hit back with a chance falling to Colin Daniel whose powerful shot was diverted for a corner. In the final 15 minutes Ilkeston pushed for a leveller. Jonathan Wafula had one shot blocked before his second attempt was well saved by Andre Mendes. Jamie Walker was then denied by another Mendes save. At the other end a counter attack by Lancaster ended with a fine save by Yates from Dominic Lawson's close range effort. In the closing minutes Declan Eratt-Thompson whipped in a great cross but no Ilkeston player could connect with it. Then Jordan Stevens blazed over Ilkeston’s final opportunity from a free kick on the edge of the area.

You can't believe the space we give opponents in our box. And we just have to get better at blocking shots and crosses coming in.

I watched the Deaks interview and it sounds like he is getting players in ....

What I don't understand is. He sets the team up for every game we play. So it can't be the fault of the players every week, can it?

It would be nice to for one week to say yes I've got it wrong today, we'll draw a line under it and move on from here.

We have to remember deaks is the man who has signed all of these players.
