Sat 23rd Nov : Warrington Rylands v Ilkeston Town : Ko 3pm

Our next fixture is at Warrington Rylands and gives us the opportunity to recover some lost ground.
Defeat at Lancaster followed by a blank Saturday has seen us fall from 4th to 9th.
Such is the closeness of teams in this league that a win could lift us to 5th and a defeat could drop us to 10th.

Rylands have been in the bottom four all season up until two weeks ago but 10 points from their last five league matches have lifted them above the relegation zone.
Unfortunately for us we play against them when they are five games unbeaten including two good FA Trophy wins.

Rylands last five matches:
22 Oct. Matlock Town    (A)  Draw 1-1
26 Oct. Ossett United    (H)  Won  4-0. (FA Trophy)
02 Nov Basford Utd       (H)  Won  3-0
09 Nov Blyth Spartans.  (H)  Won  2-1
16 Nov Scunthorpe Utd  (A)  Won  2-1  (FA Trophy)

.

Warrington Rylands spent the whole of last season in the playoff positions so it was a big surprise that they started this season so badly.
On Tuesday night they play Gainsborough Trinity away so let’s hope that takes it’s toll.
Last season they beat us twice, 1-0 at Ilkeston and 2-0 at Warrington.

It’s my least favourite ground in the league. They have a stand on one side of the ground with three rows of low level seating. The other three sides are sub standard. However the clubhouse is okay and last season they had entertainment before and after the game.

Yeah not a great ground but they  have great officials and the fans were welcoming especially after the game . I went in the little shac before the game
for a few beers which was very nice . After the game at their ground the fans from both teams  were in great voice singing in the main stand bar . I actually felt sorry for the singer cos I actually got to hear him he was quite good .

Re: Sat 23rd Nov : Warrington Rylands v Ilkeston Town : Ko 3pm

I lived in Warrington for a number of years in the mid to late 80s and Rylands as they were known then were basically a works team in the Mid Cheshire League. My mate at work played for them and once when they were short I even considered getting my boots out and helping them out. They have come along way since then as have Warrington Town who were also at a much lower level when I lived in Warrington. I went to watch them just the once and the crowd was only just into double figures. Most people watched the Rugby League team the Wires. They used to get 20,000 some weeks!

Warrington Rylands FC made the BBC News in April 2024.

Football club sacks convicted rapist manager
By Jonny Humphries, BBC News, Liverpool Published 17 April 2024

A football club appointed a convicted rapist as its manager before sacking him three days later. Sam Wilson was jailed for five years in 2015 for forcing himself on a woman after she had consensual sex with his friend. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for life.Warrington Rylands FC said in a social media post on Tuesday that it had terminated Wilson's contract by "mutual consent". "No further comment will be made by the club", it added. The 32-year-old, who had been a player at Rylands since 2021, stepped up to become interim manager in February. His appointment was made permanent on Saturday on a two-year contract. Rylands, which competes in the Northern Premier League at the seventh tier of English football, did not reply when asked by the BBC whether Mr Wilson's conviction was related to his departure. Mr Wilson confirmed his contract had been terminated in a phone call to the BBC. Asked why, he added: "You would have to take that up with the club." He ended the call when asked if the situation was related to his 2015 conviction. Mr Wilson had been appointed as interim co-manager, alongside fellow senior squad member Dean Furman, after previous manager Michael Clegg left to join Macclesfield. Rylands had been in a rich vein of form since February, securing a play off place with six wins in nine games.
