No standouts for me, just a terrific team performance. Every player put a shift in and we really dug in. Men of the match for me were the much-maligned defence - the centre-backs (Wilkinson and Marshall), the fullbacks (Parker and Minkley), and Matt Yates, who seems to have his mojo back. Bit of class won it, with the Jamie Walker header early on. Two evenly matched teams (which seems to be every game in this league), and they could easily have snatched an equaliser late on, but it was our day today. Our fans were in full voice all game as well providing brilliant support. Fantastic day. Come on you Robins!!!

Next up in the league are home games against Hebburn (5th) and Worksop (3rd). Two tough games but no reason we can't beat them both. And if we do, we're right back in the play-off picture.

What a hard fought win yesterday against an in form Rylands team looking for a 5th consecutive win. We really had to defend in the second half as they threw everything at us. Yates was back to his outstanding best and our defenders put their bodies on the line.
A superb Walker header put us ahead early on and he was close to putting us two up with a shot that rattled the crossbar via their keeper's fingertips.
Without the influential Dixon for the second half after a bad foul ended his game, didn't help our cause. The game got feisty as Rylands became frustrated and It was always a question of whether we could hang on to our lead. Yates and brilliant defending throughout the second half gave us an important three points on the road.
We must now build on that result. With two home games to come against teams above us (Hebburn and Worksop) we have a great opportunity to get back into the playoff positions.

A brilliant Jamie Walker header was enough for Ilkeston to end Rylands’ four game winning sequence but the Robins had to withstand some heavy pressure in the second half to hold on to the three points which lifted them to one place outside of the playoff positions.
The first half was played in heavy rain and Ilkeston made the better start. There was a penalty shout after only 3 minutes when Tom Cursons appeared to be brought down in the area but the referee waved away appeals. Four minutes later Ilkeston’s strong start bore fruit when Walker headed into the top corner from Declan Eratt-Thompson's right wing cross. It took Rylands 20 minutes to create a real chance with Ntumba Massanka firing wide. They then had a better chance when Ben Hardcastle was played through but Matt Yates came out to narrow the angle and the shot went wide. On 35 minutes Walker did brilliantly to create a chance for Connor Dixon but Rylands keeper Luke Pilling made the save. Then on 39 minutes Pilling did really well to turn Walker’s shot onto the crossbar. Just before half time Rylands had a chance to level after a brilliant run and cross by the lively Jake Daniels.
If Ilkeston had the better of the first half, it was a different story in the second half as Rylands had a real go at turning the game round. Ten minutes in, Yates produced the first of several outstanding saves pushing away a Daniels effort to chip him. The Ilkeston keeper then denied Daniels twice more, first with a low save then a tip over the bar. Rylands thought they had equalised following a corner but George Waring’s close range header was blocked on the line. Ilkeston had only a few chances in the second half and were forced to defend but Rylands couldn’t find a way through and Yates and the Ilkeston defenders held on to their clean sheet.
