Half way point in the season
.
Ten points from their last 4 matches have enabled Ilkeston to reach 36 points at the half way point in the season. That’s a massive 9 points more than last season.
Last season we were 14th having won 8, drawn 3 and lost 10 (27 points)
This season we are 4th having won 10, drawn 6 and lost 5. (36 points)
Last season we had scored 33 goals and conceded 34.
This season we have scored 40 and conceded 28.
Easier said than done, but If we can pick up another 36 points in the second half of the season then we would almost certainly be in the playoffs.
In the last three seasons of 42 matches :
2023-24 Worksop made the playoffs with 70 points
2022-23 Matlock made the playoffs with 68 points
2021-22 Warrington made the playoffs with 71 points

In the second half of the season we need to repeat our points haul of the first 21 matches in order to make the playoffs..
Not a straight forward task in this league where no game is easy and the teams in the lower half of the table are quite capable of producing upsets. The target must be to finish 5th. Higher than that would be a bonus. There will be ten other teams thinking that they could make the playoffs. There will be highs and lows. There will be times when we think that we've blown it. But our first 21 games have put us in a great position to have a go.
